I didn't realize how big these are when I ordered them. They are BIG!!! They have a 3” cut length which gives you some idea of their size. I wish we would have known about these years ago when we put up vinyl siding on our house and metal roofing. The super sharp offset head would have made those jobs so much easier. The only modification we made was to loosen the screw a little so it would open and close easier. Other tan that, we are well pleased!

If you use the cutter for short 2-3 inch cuts they are fine.
I needed to cut aluminum trim and it is necessary to force the tool to the right, the aluminum trim that is being cut rubs the pivot bolt in the tool (on the left side) causing the tool to cut to the left.
I will grind the bolt and possibly the body of the cutter and fix the problem.

Used it to cut some "tin" roofing thicker than the rated (suggested) gauge for this cutter. Did real well except for the "peak" areas. That was just a bit difficult.

Not a good choice
Had extremely high hopes for these. Package claims it will cut 24 gaige. Good luck. For 30.00 and the wiss name you will be disappointed. I use Malco and some wiss, but these are definitely for low volume homeowner use. Too much metal to metal contact even after oiling. Mouth opening is very small and the blades are very cheap. You would be better off going to harbor freight and getting a 6.00 pair of long cut snips. They cut better and are 24.00 cheaper. Too bad, lesson learned.

easy to handle
these snips work better when cutting a long distance than when your cutting shorter angles, they do have good leverage
The Wiss 13" lightweight snip is a great addition to my collection. It is long, sturdy and sharp enough to use for cutting gutters. The offset handles are long enough to keep you from scraping knuckles and keeping your fingers, hand and wrist away from sharp metal edges. You can also cut through vinyl while installing it on the floor. The handle design allows you to have a strong grip and greatly reduces strain on your wrist and fingers. I am very happy to have the offset snip, since it will make these and other tasks alot easier to complete.
These snips work well with thin sheet metal and stretch metal while keeping you hand away from the sharp edges.
With straight snips.I often cut my hand on the material I was cutting, but with these angled ones my hand stays away from the sharp edge. So, I safe a lot of money on band aids ;-)
In the past when cutting vinyl flooring, I've tried heavy duty shears, utility knives and flooring knives. While they worked, they weren't always easy to use, especially on some of the thicker floating floors available today. I saw these snips and "flooring" was in the description, so I thought I would give them a try. To my surprise, they made cutting the tile very easy. The length of the handles increased the leverage and force without a lot of additional effort. The cut was sharp and clean, and didn't mar the surface edge along the cut. With my hands away from the tile, it was easy to follow my cutting lines too - a BIG bonus. While it was too large to handle some of the smaller detailed cuts, larger ones and curves were a piece of cake.
The one downside for me is that I wouldn't consider these "lightweight". They are heavier than other snips I've used in the past, which made it a little awkward but still not that hard to handle once I got used to the feel. They're a good buy for the price.
Repairing gutters, fixing downspouts, light metal-craft projects... and a ton more! These things cut SO smoothly compared to my old snips. They cut as well as my $70 German-made aviation snips, but at a fraction of the cost.
LONG handles provide great leverage AND keep your fingers away from sharp edges.
The blades are removable! That means you can adjust them AND sharpen them easily!
They are also VERY sturdy yet not too heavy. Those holes in the handles reduce weight without sacrificing strength. The handles are big enough to fit my large hands even with gloves on.
The mating faces are precision ground so the occlusion is fine. That translates as cleaner cuts with less effort.
I don't swoon over many tools, but these really are superb and a great value. If you do ANY metal-work around the house or professionally, try some soon!
ALSO, these are GREAT for opening those pesky plastic packages that laugh at regular scissors. These are good enough for pros but inexpensive enough for every homeowner.
HIGHLY recommended!
With my old tin snips I almost always got cuts or scratches on my hands when cutting wire or metal. This snips are offset to keep your hands above the sharp edges. They are sharp and cut well.
Last time I had to trim roofing shingles in place I scraped up my hands a bit using straight snips. They did the job but were not easy to use. With these my hand was out of the way and I could see what I was doing which helped me cut a straighter line. I thought the handles seemed a bit long until I used them, the leverage made cutting multiple layers of shingle easy.
