Thanks for your feedback Jill! Please allow us to take this time to address your comments. First, this is a tension mount shower rod with a twist tight mechanism inside. Second, our installation instructions state to place the rod in the desired location, extend the rod tubes until they both touch the walls "before" the rods are turned. Once the rod is in place, we then ask you to lock the rod by holding the larger tube and twist the smaller tube until tight in the direction of the arrow. Third, as shown in the installation instructions, only one person is required for installation.
