What is the difference between an electric dryer and a gas dryer?
An electric dryer is completely powered through electricity and uses electrical currents that are sent through a coil to create heat. The heat is transferred to the surrounding air and forced through the dryer using a fan. Most electric dryers operate on a 240-volt current which is more powerful than the strength provided in a normal household outlet. To utilize an electric dryer a dedicated outlet must be installed. A gas dryer uses electricity to power the dum, fan and lights and uses natural gas or propane to generate heat. Within Whirlpool Dryers, we carry 27 gas dryers and 32 electric dryers.
