What should I bring when moving into my college dorm?

We've got your dorm essentials. Utilize our moving boxes or storage containers to transport your belongings, and cleaning supplies and disinfecting wipes to sanitize the space. Bring a tub of spackling to fill old nail holes and Command adhesive hooks to hang wall art and string lights. Extension cords and power strips let you place floor lamps, mini fridges, and microwaves where you need them. If you didn't get a new backpack or underbed storage yet, we've got those, too. Be prepared to head back to college with helpful products from your Torrance Home Depot.

How can I prep my home for scorching summer temps?

Be certain your home is set for summertime temperatures by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping. If water gets in the crevices, you could be dealing with damage. Check cinder blocks and brick for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces. On your house's exterior, examine metal roofing or roof shingles for damage or rust that can let water come in. Keep gutters clear of debris to prevent water overflow from seeping beneath your shingles when storms arrive. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be changed out if they're in poor condition.

Do you carry moving boxes?

Make your move easier by picking up an assortment of moving boxes. We've got the sizes you're searching for, including specialty ones like TV and wardrobe boxes. Cushion your items with moving blankets and bubble cushion to ensure your belongings make it safely. Remember to check out our moving truck rentals if you need those, too.

Why should I get a generator?

Restore electricity in your home even after severe weather takes it out. We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When searching for generators, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.

What are the benefits of doorbell cameras?

Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. Stop peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cameras even let you speak to whoever is at the door via your phone, a useful interaction to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed.

When is the August Home Depot Kids Workshop?

Don't miss our Kids Workshop on 8/1/26, from 9–12 noon or while supplies last. It's time to assemble a pint-sized rocket game! Your little builder can put together their very own rocket game craft — like a real rocketship but kid-sized. The best part is launching the rocket, so leave some time to send your rocketship into space!

Excellent Employees to Help Me with a Special Order
I ordered some special oak baseboard moldings from Ornamental Molding Company in North Carolina. Home Depot helped me place this order, and in particular I would like to recommend two excellent employees: Franke Burke and Vickie Molina. Vickie went above and beyond her normal duties to get this difficult custom order through the system. Thank you Vickie for all your help!

        Well managed
As a handyman with 16 years in the field, I have shopped at a lot of different Home Depot locations around southern California. I have found that store #0618 (Torrance Crossroads) is one of the best managed locations. I rarely find incorrectly stocked items, and the items shoppers leave around the store get promptly returned to their correct location, seemingly on a daily basis. Their lumber department seems to have a higher standard of quality than most. I regularly see minimally damaged boards on their discount rack, whereas I only see extremely damaged and/or unsellable lumber on the discount rack at most other locations. That means those other stores are not separating that damaged lumber from the rest, and attempting to still get full price for it. Home Depot has developed a reputation for having lower quality lumber than can be found at other lumber suppliers, but store #0618 is somewhat of an exception to that generalization. I am able to source lumber from there that is every bit as good as what I find at Ganahl or Learned, for general construction uses. I do still need to go to those other suppliers if I need exotic wood such as ipe, or to specify a particular grade of wood. For example, Home Depot does not have "Clear" grade redwood. I might find some boards that have no knots if I sort through the con-heart boards, but I can't place an order for only clear grade boards from Home Depot. Likewise, I often find boards and pickets labeled as con-com grade, but which only contain heart wood with maybe a little speck of sapwood on them somewhere. That board will hold up every bit as well as the more expensive con-heart grade over time, but for less money. Because of the likelihood of finding better quality lumber (for less money) there, store #0618 is usually my go-to for lumber purchases. Another thing that could be an advantage or a disadvantage is that the Torrance Crossroads shopping center does not allow solicitation. So I don't get hounded by day laborers trying to find work out in the parking lot, nor do I come back to my car and find 5 business cards on my windshield. If you are looking to hire cheap labor to do your project, you won't find it at this store. The store will hook you up with a pro that can do your project, but they will be someone who has registered their services with Home Depot and probably won't be cheap. The only major downside to this store is their lack of a full-line equipment rental department.

            Good luck getting a response
I’m still waiting for my construction order to be delivered to my house. Very poor communication and impossible to talk to a human before they hang up.

                Really great customer service
I came in to get some outdoor carpet, but ended up looking at the barbecues because they were doing a promo and giving samples of barbecued snacks. Charlie at the front was super great with the barbecues! And everyone in the store was very helpful. Checking out Charleen Marie was very patient as we changed the delivery time. Terrific buying experience! So glad I didn’t get it online from the store. It was so much better to see it in person and measure and look at how it was put together to decide which one really works for our family.

Need to improve the customer service
I saw many of employees handing around with their colleagues, even customers asking for service but keeping talking either over the phone and or to their colleagues, just keep talking to each other for more then 5-10 minutes without provide any services

I mean, Home Depot is pretty good, but...
...my experiences are that it's usually hard to find someone to help you and often their stock is as mess and it's difficult to find what you need.
