Frequently Asked Questions About Your Store

Is there a sale on storage bins and shelves?

It's time to save during our Garage Storage Sale. Get great deals on storage bins to group your belongings, then arrange them on new garage shelving systems. Sort your tools in tool chests and elevate the room with sturdy garage cabinets. Save up to 20% off select storage solutions and up to 15% off select garage tool storage solutions. These bargains run in-store and online from June 22nd to August 18th only, so don't miss them.

What college dorm essentials should I get?

Come see us for your dorm essentials. Use storage containers or moving boxes to transport your belongings, and be ready with cleaning supplies and disinfecting wipes. Make the room your own with area rugs and wall decals. Bring a tub of spackling to fill old nail holes and Command adhesive hooks to hang string lights. Power strips and extension cords let you place table lamps, microwaves, and mini refrigerators where you need them. If you didn't get a new bookbag yet, we've got those, too. Be prepared to head back to college with helpful products from your South Chesapeake Home Depot.

What do I do to prepare my home for scorching summer temps?

Be confident your home is equipped for summer temps by repairing faulty components of your home. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that can let water in. Keep gutters clear and functional to prevent overflow from entering your home when storms arrive. Chimney caps and vinyl siding should be changed out if they're in poor condition. Also, check cinder blocks and brick for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. If moisture gets inside the crevices, you could be in for a headache.

Do you carry moving boxes?

Pick up a mix of moving boxes to make your move easier. We've got the sizes you want, including specialty ones like wardrobe and TV boxes. Cushion any and all items with bubble cushion and moving blankets to ensure your belongings make it safely. Look into our rental moving trucks, too, and take care of your DIY move needs in one place.

Why should I get a generator?

Restore power in your home even after severe weather takes it out. We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When browsing generators, keep in mind that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.

Do you have wired or wireless doorbell cameras?

Enjoy peace of mind, safety, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. Stop peeking through a nearby window when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, a useful interaction for delivery people or to scare off would-be porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.

Which project will be featured at the free Kids Workshop?

Stop by for the Kids Workshop from 9–noon on August 1, 2026. Introduce your children to the joys of building with this cool pint-sized rocket game. Building this small wooden spaceship is a great way to sharpen listening abilities, fine motor skills, and creativity. Team up with your kids to make this quick craft while supplies last. The best part is imagining the rocket launch, so leave some time to blast off!

Barn Door install
After having a Home Depot rep come out and measure my spaces I placed an order in late December for two barn doors. When the doors arrived the installer said they would not work in that space. I ordered two more barn doors and called the installer when they came in. That installer quit. I had to wait for Home Depot to hire another one. A different installer came out and said the doors were the incorrect size so he suggested two more larger doors. After waiting for those doors to come in, the installer incorrectly hung up my doors and made a huge mess. He left holes in my walls, in my floors and cut off several pieces of my quarter round. When I called to complain, HD said they would have him come back out with help. So after 4 months I finally have the two barn doors in but one is missing a top stopper which has been ordered. The quarter round was replaced and holes were patched. I have to paint everywhere they patched though. Who knows when the project will cometely be done!

No flatbeds in Garden as per Management
I went for mulch Friday about 6:15am, avoiding crowds, for several bags of mulch. The Garden Center roll-up doors are closed until 8 so I parked near lumber, the other end of the store, since checkout is there anyway. Got to Garden and NO FLATBEDS AT ALL in the entire section! All are outside in the parking lot forcing the customer to exit the store thru the main entrance (Garden doors are closed still), walk to the Garden end of the parking lot, bring the flatbed back to the main entrance, then return to Garden. I asked two employees why none are inside and both said Management will not allow flatbeds to be stored in Garden. THAT IS RIDICULOUS. Plenty of space under the plant shelves or even to park a few along the mulch/gravel areas where they are needed. If you see a large plant, an impulse buy, will you travel back outside to the parking lot for a cart or flatbed so you can bring the item to the cashier? Probably not. Even during the day, after the Garden doors are open, likely not. Management needs to consider the customer experience, make it EASY for the customer to buy something and Home Depot will likely get a sale. Management needs to re-think this decision to put them all outside in the parking lot.

      Great customer service!
I like having so much help at Home Depo. They're friendly and knowledgeable. Having the right products are key, but great customer service is the reason I keep coming back.

        My favorite Home Depot store!
#4656 is my favorite HD store. The merchandise selection is always good and the store is usually well stocked. The employees are always friendly and very helpful. I've shopped at numerous HD stores throughout the country and this store is one of my favorites.

          Great Home Depot Location
This is a great Home Depot location. Adrianna (Customer Service) is awesome, and always goes above and beyond. Amy, one of the plant vendors, is a superstar, very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and always helpful.

My observations: The store is always clean, well stocked, employees friendly & helpful reflecting management priorities "customer service". Supports veterans.
This is my go to store. I purchase a number of power tools, home repair items, toilet repair items, air filters, lumber for repair of my boat dock, & gazebo. Also, your area for cut lumber pieces is a good idea. It saves me money not have to buy a full length board when I need just a small piece to finish a small job. I also buy water feature pumps and chemicals. I also watch for great sales on power and lawn tools. Plus it is handy to have small tools on display for sale that I can pick up even though I had not planned to. One area of concern is shortage of personnel in your departments which is frustrating. I will add experienced personnel in your plumbing and electrical as a good example. The ones you do have are good. We are on first name basis. You just need more! As a veteran I appreciate you have parking spaces for those veterans that can't quite move like they use to do to injuies etc. Your 10% discount is also appreciated. Your store management also supports a number of veteran projects All in all this is an excellent store which is an asset to the community!
