Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut down energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. Do you carry trunk-or-treat ideas or kits?
Who needs trunk-or-treat kits? We've got everything you need to make your own. Use your imagination and Halloween decorations to create your own trunk-or-treat experience. Outdoor Halloween decorations can help set the stage around your vehicle, while indoor Halloween decorations draped with lights work well inside a trunk. To complete the scene, involve the whole family and hand out candy while dressed in coordinating Halloween costumes.
Why should I get a generator?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are cleaner and quieter than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When browsing generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before the cold sets in?
Ready your home for cold weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams. Check cinder blocks and brick for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be changed out if they're damaged.
What are some storage options for a crowded holiday home?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow what you don't need to enjoy extra space. Shoe racks and other storage containers take summer belongings out of the equation. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Protect fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've been waiting for.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are an excellent present during the holiday season or for any reason. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to give and to receive. Purchase them online at homedepot.com or in our stores. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store. There are no additional fees to worry about.
