Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

What are some kid-friendly Halloween ideas?
For a holiday that's not spooky, pick kid-friendly Halloween yard decorations. Halloween inflatables and Halloween doormats are festive solutions that aren't as spooky as many other outdoor Halloween decorations. Ask your kids what's scary to them – they may be braver than you think.
Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When searching generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Should I make siding repairs before it gets cold?
Make sure your home is ready for colder weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be replaced if they're damaged.
What storage solutions do you offer?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Shoe racks and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty of it.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent choice for the holidays, housewarming parties, and birthdays. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to receive and to give. Buy gift cards at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you receive a gift card, you can visit the Eagle Creek Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Redeem our gift cards for online or in-store shopping, all with no additional fees.
