When it's time to make the leap into a new DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Fremont Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your next home improvement project with confidence and the best tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Fremont Tool Rental Center expand your toolbox with the tools you don't have on hand. You can rent what you need and bring them back when the job is done. In fact, if you found the tools so useful that you didn't want to return them, we have used tools available for purchase. Compared to the new items on our store shelves, they're discounted.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to keep up with your yard. Fall will be in full swing soon, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's much easier than raking. It's also great to use on hardscaping surfaces, driveways, and concrete sidewalks. You can rent one of our backpack, walk-behind, or handheld leaf blowers.
Chainsaws
Maintain the beauty and safety of the woody shrubs and trees in your yard with a rental chainsaw. Since you might not need this tool every day, try renting it when it comes time to clean up your yard. It's much easier to spot any troublesome branches and do basic trimming once the leaves are off the trees. We carry gas and electric chainsaws, so you're sure to find one that fits the job.
Heaters
If you dislike working or being outside in the cold, browse our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep outdoor events, barns, or workspaces warm. They are safer than torch patio heaters because portable heaters have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for more coverage. We offer electric, propane, and gas heaters in various sizes. Couple this with good outdoor lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the night.
Truck Rental
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks ready for rental, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.
Box Trucks and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, let us help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies by store. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a college dorm to the contents of a 4-bedroom house. Box trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than Penske moving trucks, so review the FAQs or consult an associate to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we have in stock.
Although we're calling out popular truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you get there, call first to inquire about a large equipment, tool, or truck. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, check out these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
When do I need to return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you may luck out and have a sharpened blade on the saw. As there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We do not accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment and select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rental delivery for you, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
