Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

What are some Halloween ideas that won't scare kids?
For a holiday that's not spooky, choose kid-friendly Halloween yard decorations. Halloween inflatables and Halloween doormats are festive solutions that aren't as spooky as many other outdoor Halloween decorations. Ask your kids what's scary to them – they may be braver than you think.
Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for the winter?
Make sure your home is ready for colder weather by replacing any faulty or broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could have problems. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check brick and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be swapped if they're damaged.
What storage solutions do you offer?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shoe storage and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. Moving blankets protect fragile items. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've dreamed of.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent present for the holidays, birthdays, and housewarming parties. DIYers know they're fun to give and to receive. They can be purchased at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you receive a gift card, you can visit the Ontario Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Redeem our gift cards in-store or use them to shop online with no additional fees.
