What additional precautions is The Home Depot taking in light of COVID-19?
The adjusted hours give stores the ability to staff appropriately and provide additional time to restock shelves and perform cleaning. As part of our normal practice, our stores and other facilities are cleaned and sanitized daily. Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we've increased the frequency of cleaning and general hygiene maintenance in stores and other locations. We've also stepped up our efforts to disinfect high-traffic and high-touch areas like self-checkout, door handles, and bathrooms, as well as posting signage about handwashing and other preventative actions.
We're promoting social distancing in our stores and distribution centers, which includes stores limiting the number of customers inside at any given time. In addition to training our associates on social distancing, we've placed distancing markers at some of our checkout counters and are making overhead announcements on our store PA systems asking customers to practice social distancing.

Michael and the other guy in the paint department were rude and unhelpful to me and other customers. His attitude stinks and he really shouldn’t be working in the customer service industry with an attitude like that.

Took 40 min. to get help in paint dept. Went to purchase ladder and the only lady available said she was making keys and couldn't help ne. Needed wheelbarrow and no one in lawn and garden. Went back to paint dept. and guys didn't acknowledge I was standing there and then I noticed my paint cans on counter mixed and ready. No paint stick, wasn't going to ask for 1, just too frustrated. Used self check out and was having problems with scanning paint tape, cashier just stood there with hands on hips. What a nightmare Home Depot. Worse one I have ever been to.

While checking out at the self checkout I noticed two prices were wrong. I requested help from Janet who told me the prices were correct, and even scanned them in her hand held device and showed me. In a condescending tone she told me, "See I told you the prices were right." I advised her that's not the price on the sign in the aisle. She told me in the same nasty voice, "Well you're not reading the sku right, because that's the right price." She then request another customer service agent who walked with me to the aisle where I showed him where I got them. Both with the exact same sku, both with the price I told Janet they were. He agreed the prices were marked incorrectly, removed the signs and came back to the self check out with me. He gave Janet the signs showing the prices and they were adjusted. Janet offered zero apologies for treating me like a liar and being too stupid to read the sku's correctly. Also I don't recommend using the self checkout at this location. The store forces you to wear a mask, yet when you get to the check out you have to use the hand held "gun" to scan your items. The same one everyone has touched all day long, that NO one is cleaning after each use. There's not much point in cleaning the basket handles or forcing us to wear masks if you're not clearing the one item in the store everyone is touching over and over again.

i wrote in the survey the exceptional service I have received from two of your associates. Conner has waited on me many times he lifts and loads for me as I am physically unable to. Conner was off today and Goliath helped me. And even though he is classified As not being a loader or lot person he knew I couldnt stand much longer and loaded my car. These two men are exceptional young people in todays environment. These guys are why I shop your store instead of Ridge Rd.. Hold on to these guys they're a compliment to your company. Note this comes from a 70 yr. Old widow that has back problems etc . I appreciate their help.

This is a rather difficult review to write because I had interactions with two different employees -- one was not helpful at all, actually dismissive of my needs and the other spent the time with me to try and help solve my problem. I did not get the name of the unhelpful employee but he worked in the kitchen cabinet area. I was told to go there to find out about a particular hinge I needed. I asked him to help me and he begrudgingly walked over to the hinges in the hardware aisle. Once there he took a cursory look at the hinge and said Home Depot couldn't help and suggested I go to a local cabinet shop. ( I was very surprised at his attitude). As I was leaving the aisle without the items I needed I ran across a new employee and his name is Garrison. He asked me if I was finding what I needed and I told him about the hinge and how I couldn't find a suitable replacement. He looked at my hinge and said he had helped a lady a few days prior with the same type of hinge. He said he didn't think the store had one in stock but suggested we look online because there is quite a large selection there. (please note the first employee made no mention of the HD web site). I could see there indeed was a very large selection online and as a stopgap bought a hinge in the store that might work until I could find the proper replacement. Garrison in my mind went above and beyond to help me. He did not "blow me off" because the item was not stocked. He was friendly, courteous, and willing to take the time necessary to help me solve my problem. I wish I got the name of the other employee because I feel he could use a "Dale Carnegie" refresher course. The contrast between the two employees was truly stark. Due to Garrison, rather than walking out of the store irked and frustrated, I left with hope that I still might solve my hinge issue. Had I not seen Garrison I most likely would have gone to another retailer or simply not returned to the HD store.
