Purchased flooring at Portland on Tuesday. Found same flooring the next day in South Portland for less. Portland store wouldn’t honor South Portlands price costing me @$120. Before you buy here, check other local stores.

Home Depot has a great store, with wonderful products and customer service, and a great website for online purchases. Thank you Home Depot for making the world a better place!

Every time I visit the store, the team is friendly, helpful and a pleasure to work with.

I usually shop the Augusta Maine store and don't often shop the Portland store. The Augusta store is well organized, clean and as a 74 year old i never have a problem finding someone to help me get lumber of high storage areas. The Portland store is the opposite of Augusta. The aisles are so congested that it's nearly impossible to negotiate them with a cart loaded with lumber. I purchased 2x8x12' spruce which was up on the second tier. I couldn't find anyone to help me get them down so I had to struggle to do it myself. I'm not sure if it's because they're short staffed but having managed large manufacturing operations my entire life, I can tell you that this store needs a focused effort to clean up the store. If you have never heard of the Japanese 5S methodology you should look it up. This store could benefit from some 5S training. This is not Home Depot's flagship store.

I like the Portand stores helpful staff. Everyone is polite and ready to look things up for you (saving wandering looking for the items on my list). Randy at the contractor side of the store is a hoot, and gets you out the door without hassles.

I went to the Portland store to grab some ceiling paint. The gentleman at the paint department is an example of what it used to be like to experience service in a store. He was incredibly accommodating and helpful. He actually appeared to like his job and cared about my needs. I don't usually purchase paint from home depot, but on this day it was convenient for me. I am glad I did.

I guess it is important to come out of the store as quickly as possible with what you came for, when You are in a hurry. It is a blast to shop at HD, the items are arranged kinda where they’re supposed to. Thank You!

Even after many visits to this store, I find myself unsure of where to start looking for those things that I need. Luckily, the staff at the store is willing to stop what they’re doing and help me find what I need to find.

I shop on line before going to the store. In most cases what I find on line is available in the store for the advertised price. I appreciate that.

As a Pro-Account member, I shop at Home Depot stores all across Maine and NH. I only shop at this location because I have to. The store is typically crowded and more disorganized than other stores. And, I tend to find the staff more rude and immature than most other stores as well. When I do shop here, I go through self check out. I avoid the Pro-Desk at all costs.

I have always been a loyal Home Depot customer. Today was the worst experience ever, however. No one was working or could open a register, so self checkout was the only lane open. Tell me why multiple employees were standing at self checkout just twiddling their thumbs? I had two coupons to use for two transactions and before i could even pay for half of my items, a cashier comes up and snatches my buggy away. She says i have more items in my cart than on my receipt. I reply yes, here are my two receipts for two transactions. Feel free to look at the receipt while i ring the remaining 3 items up. She then doesn’t understand how to read the items on the receipt asking what “k-pad” is or means when i have knee pads in the cart for a deck sanding project…she then doesn’t understand how to count to 12 items since they were listed on two different receipts. It was just awful and to top it off she made fun of my accent, where the hell did that come from??? Just a terrible experience to be accosted at self checkout, stared at by multiple employees, erroneously scanning a coupon with the solution to spend another 30mins at customer service, and making fun of a veteran and his daughter’s accent. This person needs to be fired or at least trained. Home Depot give your employees an actual job to do and make sure before you hire someone that they know how to count to 12.

I have had the misfortune of shopping at other stores and being ignored as a woman needing help but I have also had the fortune of shopping at Home Depot and the employees took the time to help me and explain what I needed for my project.

Went to store to buy deck railings after looking online to see if they had the quantity that I needed, unfortunately they did not. But Christy came to my aid and hustled to find me the remaining order at another store which took her some time. I would deal with her anytime because she really seems to care for the customer and she does with a smile on her face. 5 star in my book

Don't ever, ever purchase a box that has been opened. Just make them give you a sealed box. They charge full price for returned items.

Alva, Dawson, and Cortez were a big help

So good to see quality brands that you know you can trust. American brands. The multi-driver can handle a variety of jobs. I use it with Heavy Duty Arrow Staples primarily. Can't wait for a chance to use it for other projects like cabling.

Cashier became visibility agitated and aggressive that I was paying cash and was annoyed to be working. Slamming the drawer on the cash register and handed cash back in a mess with coins on top sliding everywhere. Avoid this store at all costs low quality employees and absent management to train.

We’ve done a massive paint job and found the employees at this store to be incredible! Kind and patient and helpful! Absolutely will be back! Special thanks to Doc and John at the paint section.

With the upcoming second Nor'easter I went to HD to get a Generator. Decent supply left, but the sales associate shared the most useful information.

The store is fine, the staff is great. However, this particular location is extremely windy and the loading dock is not accessible by its patrons unless you are being loaded by equipment. It’s very dangerous to be trying to load plywood out in the middle of the parking lot with the wind blowing, which it often is over there.

I have been shopping in this store for a long time and have watched it go through many changes. In the past couple years I have to say every time I go in I'm greeted and there is always someone there to ask me if I have any questions or need help. I really appreciate being treated with kindness and respect, everyone in this store does just that! George and Barbara are both great people and very helpful. Keep up the great work Portland Home Depot!!
