Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Look into our rental moving trucks, too, and take care of your DIY move needs in one place.
Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with strong winds, severe thunderstorms, or blizzards, a portable generator lets you enjoy power after the elements knock it out. When searching generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing any faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brick and cinder blocks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, swap chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy peace of mind, safety, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a nearby window or peephole when you can see human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off wannabe porch pirates. Most cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
