Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.

Do you carry big outdoor Halloween decorations?
Yes, we have many kinds of large outdoor Halloween decorations, including several life-sized animatronics. Make your front yard the scariest in the neighborhood with giant Halloween decor options, including witches and skeletons. Skelly and Dean the Deathologist, a dapper bartender, are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables are another way to up the drama and create interest.
Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with severe thunderstorms, snowstorms or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When considering different generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
Why should I repair my roof before the cold sets in?
Ready your home for winter weather by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for major repairs later. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Check cinder blocks and brickwork for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, change chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're in poor condition.
Are garage cabinets or sheds better for storage?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Shoe storage and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've been waiting for.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are a popular choice for any special occasion or during the holiday season. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. You can buy gift cards online at homedepot.com or in our stores. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you.
