About This Product

The Basement Watchdog Special Connect is our most popular battery backup sump pump system. It incorporates most of the sought after features of premium level backups. It will provide 24 hour a day monitoring, a smart Wi-Fi capable controller and days of pumping on a single battery charge. The Basement Watchdog Special CONNECT will protect your basement from a power outage, primary sump pump or float switch failure and provide extra pumping capacity when needed. It will sound an audible alarm and give a visual warning on the control box pinpointing needed maintenance or irregularities with the battery, pump, or power conditions. This system is part of the Basement Watchdog Connect line, giving it the ability to communicate with the Basement Watchdog WiFi Module (BW-WiFi - sold separately). When connected to the Basement Watchdog WiFi module, the system will send a text, email or a notification through the Basement Watchdog App to alert of any irregularities. The Basement Watchdog Special Connect is designed with reliability in mind. With its 24 hour a day monitoring, easy to understand alarms, weekly self-test, 1850 GPH at 10 ft. lift sump pump, dual float switch, a 1.6 Amp smart charger and long-lasting battery, you can feel safe that the Basement Watchdog is watching out for you.

Q:If I connect to the same pipe as the main pump do I need to install a second check valve in the backup supply line? I’m concerned the main pump will recycle water back through the backup pump.

Answer This Question

A:  When joining the discharge lines, you should have 2 check valves in the system. One on the primary and one on the secondary, both beneath where you join the pipes and no check valves above. We have diagrams in the manual that you may find helpful. For more information, please contact our customer support team at 800-991-0466 option 3. We are available to take incoming calls from 8am – 6pm CT Monday through Friday.

Q:I just ordered a replacement Wathdog batter for my back up sump pump. The page for the system I have indicated that a new maintenance free battery is compatible. What do I do with the probe that used to go into the yellow cap?
        by|Feb 7, 2024
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  For this kind of battery you would want to place the fluid sensor probe on the positive bolt on the battery. The installation sheet that comes with the battery will show this as well. If you have any questions when installing it you are welcome to call our service team at 800-991-0466 option 3. We're here to help from 8-6 Monday - Friday central time.

          Good backup sump pump system
Good basement backup sump pump system, been working good for 2 months so far. Installed one week before a power company planned shutdown and it never skipped a beat! With a new battery by the way, only time will tell on battery life and it's usefulness. The alarms do come on during outages and a light will display what event happened! Make sure you get some plumbing items ready prior to install as noted in the instructions, but if you have done some pvc plumbing before this isn't too difficult. The charge light comes on and off pretty often, like every 15 seconds. Hopefully it stands the test of time, based on some others troubling comments?

Works perfect and meets the expectations. Did an order pickup, looks like it’s kind of opened and returned box, otherwise it’s all great

I have used this same backup system in three homes. One lasted for over three days during a hurricane and kept my finished basement dry. It’s is easy to install and is hefty enough to do the job. Definitely get the maintenance-free battery.

This is a replacement for a unit which was put into service in 2007. The first one lasted 17 years and still was Operational but the switch has corroded leaving the system running continuously. The replacement is the main, the retired unit is held as a Manual backup
