Questions & Answers

Do the washer and dryer require separate outlets to plug into and separate drains? Or do they so...

Do the washer and dryer require separate outlets to plug into and separate drains? Or do they somehow link together to use the same outlet and drain. I am thinking about getting, but don't want to have to install an additional electric outlet and drain.
Asked by: SpaceCityGirl
No, in both cases. The Dryer has an outlet for the washer, and the condensate line slips into the same drain as the washer.

How much longer will it take to dry my clothes with a ventless dryer and does it need some sort of drain?

Asked by: Wayne
Considerably longer... 2 plus hours for a load of towels. They recommend drying towels in half load batches... still takes longer and you have to dry 2 batches now. Yes, you need a drain for the condensate... can use the washer drain, the drain line is quite small and slips easily into the drain next to the washer discharge hose.

Is this vented

Is this vented
Asked by: Kat
Hi there. Thank you for your question. No, Bosch dryers are ventless. Our dryers use the condensation drying method; therefore no external venting is needed.

Do these or other similar Bosch electric washers & dryers come with 115-120 volt power?

Are there any other Bosch W&D that can be adapted to 110 - 120 volts?

500 Series 24 in. 4 cu. ft. White with Silver Accents Electric Condensation Compact Dryer, ENERGY STAR is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 115.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from I do not recommend this dryer I own this dryer. Unless you are forced to have a condensation dryer, I would never recommend one. Drying cycles are much longer. Clothes come out damp. Lots of extra maintenance beyond the simple cleaning of the lint filter: frequent removal and cleaning of the slide-out heat exchanger; more frequent cleaning of the moisture sensors; cleaning out the drain hose, and in our case, because our dryer's placement didn't allow draining the condensation into our plumbing system, we collect the condensation in a bucket and then have to pour it out every few loads. A real pain in the neck. Literally, because in order to clean out the drain hose you have to get down near the floor and then blow real hard into the hose, then reach way deep into the dryer in order to pick up all the muck that had been in the hose and is now back in the dryer. My wife and I are sad that we own this dryer after many years of owning other Bosch appliances. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bosch compact ventless Tumble dryer This little ventless dryer is a pleasant surprise from the past several other brands of vented clothes dryers we have owned. It does a wonderful job of drying. Some thicker cotton items like socks and thicker tees take a little longer drying but they also took a little longer with the vented dryers. We still can't believe they operate so quiet. The lint filter inside the door does an amazing job of actually collecting lint. I am still in awe of how soft the tee shirts are and especially how soft the towels are. We were used to having towels so rough they felt like sand paper. In the beginning I was very skeptical of both appliances running on 220 volts. Until I kept checking our meter. I am amazed at how little electricity the set has actually been using. I have to wash almost every day. I definitely recommend Bosch washers and dryers. They have been totally well thought out. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dries poorly; touch screen not very responsive We had an older model Bosch Axxis condensation dryer which worked very well. Since it was almost 10 years old we thought an upgrade to a newer model would serve us well. Unfortunately, the current dryer does not perform nearly as well as the older model it replaced. First of all, it stops drying prematurely, while the clothes in the dryer are still damp or wet. This happens regardless of the setting (Cotton Extra Dry, Quick 30...). Second, the touch screen is hard to use: It takes a second or two to respond, so you never know if the machine has read your finger press or if it is just waiting to start. We routinely spend over 20 seconds trying to start the dryer. This happens because it appears start and pause are in the same place so sometimes you immediately seem to pause the machine. At other times, we are waiting for a few seconds just to realize the touch screen did not read our finger press and have to try to get it started again. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Happy Was excited to get a new machine. However it takes way to long to get things dry.it seems to take hours and they still come out damp. I did not intend to hang dry everything..... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Could be better Apparently my last review didn't meet guidelines. I write because I have this machine in my apartment, and I have not great luck with it. Very often, at least 65% of the time, when I am trying to use the dryer, and click start, the machine does not automatically start. Instead, it beeps twice, and I have to click start a few more times until it turns on, but that is concerning. What is more frustrating is when I try to re-dry clothes because they didn't fully dry the first time (which again, also happens). That is when the machine really refuses to turn on. I guess it uses some sort of sensor that detects the dryness of clothes - I'm not sure, and don't quote me on that, but if it is, it's a terrible sensor. Overall, I do not see anything positive about this dryer just from my two points. Now, I hope this review goes through. It's highly disappointing to see such great reviews when I haven't experienced the same. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent, but leaves water/lint in heat exchanger Just had this installed earlier this week. Ran at least 5 loads with different settings to test it out. Clothes take longer to dry, but it's not too bad. After every load I cleaned the lint trap, but also noticed standing water in the heat exchanger area, which dripped out when opening its flap. It did not smell good. Saw lint residue as well. I wonder if it is pumping out the water properly, although the machine is level and I hear the water exit into the drain hose. I'm worried that I will have to wipe it down after every load, since I already had to wipe it out between these recent loads. Perhaps there is an ambient air temperature issue, since it is supposed to take in cool ambient air, but unfortunately the machine is so warm that it heats up the air in the entire room. I will probably not want to use it much on a hot summer day (I tend to air dry clothes in the summer anyway, but still)... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, with some adjustments I switched from a vented to this ventless dryer to fit a small laundry closet. I was worried about perpetually damp clothes, but you CAN get clothes to dry nicely. My advice: (1) there is a page in the instruction manual explaining the settings and load sizes, follow those guidelines; (2) Use “high” washer spin speed if possible; and (3) Select dry level +1 or +2. At first I just guessed without reading the manual and ended up with wet clothes like other reviewers complained of. It’s taken some trial and error, and yes the drying time will be somewhat longer, but now my clothes are dry but not static-y, without dryer sheets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would, unhappily, confirm the experiences of other customers as to how this dryer works. It is ... I would, unhappily, confirm the experiences of other customers as to how this dryer works. It is a "damp dryer". i will set it for the highest level of dryness as well as "extra dry". i have damp laundry hanging around the house. Is this how an expensive dryer supposed to work!?? i think there are major issues here. one seems to be the sensors that are not reading dampness correctly. i too, have an issue of the 'buttons' that don't respond when you press them. And, the manual instructing you not to iron after drying until you put laundry into a pile for a short while. this is supposed to cause the dampness to dissipate evenly??? what is a short while? what about wrinkling? not a fan of the dryer or the manual.
