It was time for a replacement and this just fit
Our pump is running every few minutes from November through April every year so there is a lot of use. Our previous 1/3 HP pump's float switch was getting stuck occasionally over the past months and almost overflowing the pit several times. We were tired of worrying and decided to replace it. This is a faster pump with the same HP and power consumption as our last one. It's also significantly quieter. Installation was fast and we are very happy with it.

          Perfect for our needs!
This is the perfect sumo pump for our house. We had a really wet winter and spring and seemed as if we were always pumping throughout the day. The float control works great and best of all, it's quiet! Install was easy, came with most everything I needed to get it in place and going. I recommend to anyone that battles the problems that wet spring conditions bring, and have a nice dry basement everyday!

          Upgrading to 1hp DeWalt
Upgrading to this 1 hp. submersible sump pump from a competitor's 1/2 hp. pump. We have only one sump pit in the basement, and with some storms, the 1/2 hp. pump was forced to run continuously on-off-on-off. It's nerve-wracking knowing that if the pump failed, the basement would quickly flood. Prior to installation, you should know that a check-valve is not included with this particular model. We are replacing the old check-valve as well. We chose this pump for the dependability of the DeWalt brand, for it's unique Stainless steel/cast iron construction, for the motor size and GPM rating, and its impressive 10-year warranty.

Solid Sump Pump From Quality Manufacturer
This DeWalt sump pump is a bruiser! Just picking it up, you can tell it's a solid pump ...constructed of cast iron and stainless steel, I would expect it to last well beyond its 10 year warranty. You can't go wrong with the DeWalt name ...I've never been disappointed with any of their products. Checking in at 1 hp, I would think this pump would have no trouble clearing out any residential sump well in a matter of seconds. Installation is easy ...the pump even has a built-in anti-airlock hole, so you won't need to drill a hole in your drain pipe. Has a unique piggy-back plug setup so you can bypass the float switch if you need to run the pump manually. Great design and outstanding quality.

          Solid and reliable
This sturdy pump is a reasonably powerful ½ HP. The box clearly lists how many GPM based on discharge height. Note that the pump does NOT come with the discharge hose and discharge check valve, so you’ll need to get PVC or flexible piping in either 2” or 1-½” diameter because this unit has a 2” with a 1-½” adapter. The bigger the discharge hose, the faster the output. The pump does come with a 10-year warranty. The design, as shown in the pictures, is such that the pump can be used manually by not plugging the pump into the pass-through plug for the float valve. I guess it could then be used as a utility pump.

Works As Expected and Should Last
The DEWALT 1 hp. Stainless Steel/Cast Iron Submersible Sump Pump does its job and does it well. The first thing I noticed right out of the box is its weight. It was far heavier than any other plastic pump I've ever owned. Secondly, the float is super easy to set and freely moves up and down with the water level inside the sump. Finally, it was very easy to install for any moderate DIY'er. So, if you are in the market for a new sump pump, I suggest the DEWALT 1 hp. Stainless Steel/Cast Iron Submersible Sump Pump.

          HEAVY duty, nice features,
Right out of the box, this made a good impression! The famous DeWalt color scheme here does more than just look good. Thick yellow powder coating will protect steel parts from rust. Any other exposed metal parts are made of stainless steel, which is naturally rust resistant. I noticed the WEIGHT. It's heavy and built for heavy duty. That's why it's so nice to have that LARGE sturdy handle ON TOP. That will make installation and maintenance much easier! This has TWO separate power plugs that can "nest" together. That means you won't usurp two sockets to power this in its normal "automatic mode." But if there is an emergency, you can operate the pump in manual mode by using the separate plug. I like the clear instructions and graphics of the manual. It's concise, clear, and easy to read. Before installation, I checked the motor by plugging it in for a short test run. It runs smooth and quiet; very little vibration. That's always a good indicator of motor quality. I also checked the float switch and cut-off. Everything operates smoothly with no "catches" or "hiccups". The manufacturer claims the cut-off switch and float mechanism is rated for over one million throws! I took these "glamour" photos outside in daylight, just so you can see how nice it looks. My experience with pump motors goes back several decades. This is the nicest looking model I've ever seen.

          Best Pump on the Market.
The Dewalt 1HP Stainless Steel/Cast Iron Sump pump is truly a beast. It is heavy and well made, it as a floater that I use sometime and sometimes not. It really helped us with the storms here in California, I put it through it paces and it did a great job. I also use it to flush my tankless water heater and it work great. Would recommend everyone have this in their Garage. It has been a life saver for us.

          Getting better and better
This is a beast of a sump pump! So much better than my last sump pump. It is all cast iron and stainless steel with a 1 hp motor. It will dump 117 gallons a minute when in use. That means you can empty a 275 gallon tote in about 2 minutes and 20 seconds. This should give you ample service in even the worst of emergencies. It will pull a full 12 amps when in use so it would be best to have it on its own circuit; otherwise you could be tripping circuit breakers when you need your sump pump running the most. The built in float switch provides for effortless operation. I'm looking forward to NOT ever needing this but I know I am covered should the river rise out of its banks again.

          Great alternative for basement pumping
For those interested in country of origin, this product was made in CHINA. Needed a reliable pump with good volume to address a strange basement issue. House has a three level basement, with the lowest level being where the furnace and hot water heater are located. Add to the situation that the house on the farthest side is only 6 feet high, being built over ledge that weeps water when there is a high water level condition. Currently have a two prong response to water issue: sensor and submersible pump. But to test you need to put both units in bucket of water to energize, a rather difficult and timely process. And the submersible pump has plastic impellor blades. This pump is steel, so there is little problem with corrosion. Trigger switch is below the low level of the furnace so water will not flood it. Unit can be easily tested by just forcing the float ball to upper position.
