Q:Can this sump pump be used for seweage ?
by|Apr 27, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Earnest Thank you for your question. No, a sump pump is designed for rainwater. By code, a sewage pump has to pass a 2” solid. A sump pump is designed to pass up to a 1/2” solid. Sump pumps will not work in a sewage application. Regards Everbilt Customer Service

Q:How long can the pump stay on continuously ?
        by|Jan 13, 2024
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Ronny, thank you for the question. As long as the pump stays fully submersed in the water it will run continuously. If the pump is not fully submersed it will enable its thermal protection due to lack of water to cool the pump. Once the pump heats up too much and enables thermal protection for the motor it will shut off, once it cools back down the pump will run again. Best regards Everbilt customer service.

          Horrible quality
This is now the 3rd pump in 6 months. Bearings went in the first one. Didn’t have time to deal with warranty issues so I bought a 2nd one. Couldn’t find the receipt for the first one so that’s my fault. 2nd one locked up at the end of December. Rushed to Home Depot to get another one since I had almost 2 feet of water underneath my house. Now beginning of April, the pump locked up again.

Thank you for your review. Can you tell us more about your application? Is the pump under the house in a sump basin? Have you checked for foreign material in the impeller? If you have debris getting into the basin and clogging the impeller, the pump will continue to run until the the thermal overloads kick in. Then it will continue to run until it burns itself up. Please check the impeller / volute area for debris. Please call for additional help.

I live in an area where the water table is very shallow - or very high -depending on your vantage point. Dig about 4-6 inches below the foundation, you'll hit water. I have four sump pumps scattered about my basement and I live or die by those pumps. If one fails I'll have to redo my basement - again. Unfortunately, not all the collection bucket/pits are the same diameter. Even though I've learned to do periodic inspection and maintenance of the pumps, I can't completely prevent iron build-up which can unknowingly, burn out the motor. The next pump in line for replacement is the narrowest bucket. Theses pumps are reliable and relatively inexpensive. Just remember, if you're not doing a drop-in replacement, make sure you have all the fittings on hand before you install...

            Long lasting pump
The Everbilt 1/2 HP Home Sump Pump is excellent. The pump is built well and easy to install. I like that you are able to use different size pipe to easily adapt to your needs. The float is excellent for tight spaces and the power cord is long and durable too. This pump will last for years and it comes with a one year warranty. I have used this brand in the past and have been totally satisfied. I recommend this pump to anyone who is in need of a quality product.

            Solid little pump
This is the 3rd everbilt pump I have used and they work great and perform flawlessly as needed. Priced well and have good service life. I have one that’s 2 yrs old and still going strong. It’s solid and heavy for the size, cord has long enough length to get the electrical connection away from the water areas. The base is a formed plastic so it won’t corrode over time. Just hook up your desired discharge piping or a hose kit from everbilt and it’s set to run.

            Excellent pump
I have a sump pump in my French drain system to help with overflow and clean out when necessary. The other brand pump I had stopped working, so I needed a replacement and one with much better build quality. This Everbilt pump is much more solid and don’t think I’ll have a problem with this one lasting. The vertical switch seems smooth and the overall build quality seems fantastic. This should move a decent amount of water in the drain, and will help with those big downpours or storms we have.

            High quality pump.
This is a high quality Sump Pump that works well in my crawl space to remove the water seepage that I get when I have a heavy rain or in the spring when the snow melts and I have the water runoff. it comes with an 8 foot cord which makes installation easy. The fitting for the drain hose is 1-1/2 but it has a removeable adapter for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 fittings.

            Great Solid Pump
This Everbilt 1/3 HP Aluminum Sump Pump is made of solid materials. It comes with an output adaptor for either a 1-1/2 - 1-1/4 inch drainage pipe. The vertical switch allows for a more narrow well and reduces the chance of the switch getting stuck or obstructed by debris in the well. I am installing this sump pump as a backup to my 1 HP Everbilt pump which has been running for several years at my house on a Bay where the water table constantly rises. These pumps have proven to keep my basement from flooding.

Great compact and lightweight pump fits in a small sump
Constructed of mainly aluminum and plastic components with stainless steel float bracket and fasteners, it only weighs 8.6 lbs. The motor housing is only 4-inches in diameter. This is the perfect pump for my small area application and allows for use of 14-inch diameter sumps, according to the Use and Care Guide, although the online Product Description says it will work in an 11-inch diameter sump. The longest dimension of the base is 8-inches so 11-inches may be possible, but it may result in a lot of short-cycling. The vertical float switch arrangement allows it to fit in the small sump. (The sister model with a tethered float switch requires an 18-inch diameter sump.) With that said, a 12” or 14” would be perfect for my application but they will be difficult to find, as 18” seems to be the standard. I finally found a 14” basin locally so I can proceed with my project next Saturday. >>>>>> The pump housing has 38, 3/8” inlet holes in three rows centered 2-1/8” above the base. If the pump ever clogs which would be rare for a sump pump, the cover under the base is held in place by seven SS machine screws which can be easily removed. It appears that the pump turns on when the water depth reaches 6-1/2” and turns off when the water is pumped down to 3”, so there will always be 3” of water in the sump basin.>>>>>>>> The discharge is 1-1/2” FPT but the pump comes with a 1-1/2 X 1-1/4 plastic bushing, so I plan to go with 1-1/4” piping. Installation is straight forward, but there is one especially important note to keep in mind: If the check valve does not have an air bleed hole, it is necessary to drill an 1/8” hole just above the pump discharge connection. The pump has an 8-foot-long power cord that should be plugged into a GFCI receptacle. The pump is made in China and comes with a relatively short one-year warranty. A Nice Sized Sump Pump
I ordered the 1/4" Everbilt Sump Pump with the vertical float switch to drain my basement window well sump during heavy rains. I wanted this switch as it will work with a smaller basin diameter (14" rather than 18"). It has an 1 1/2" threaded discharge and included a 1 1/4" bushing if needed. It didn't include a discharge check valve. I set it up to do an initial test using a temporary garden hose and a bucket. It pumped an impressive amount of water for the size. I wasn't able to test it, but the box states that it will pump up to height of 22'. The paperwork says that the vertical float switch turns the pump on a 7.06" of depth and shuts off at 5.26". Overall I am satisfied, and this should work well for my needs!

            Very well built sump pump
I received this sump pump in exchange for my honest opinion of it. Not being handy, I had my plumber install this for me. He said it was a very well made and easy to install pump. I tried to take a photo of it in the hole I have it in but couldn’t get a good shot. So, the photos I have are of it before installation. It works very well and will be great in the Spring when that area of my cellar gets water coming in. You do need to get some extra items for installation and I tried to show the list.
