Questions & Answers

where do I get a new float switch - home depot doesn't carry on ever the associate i spoke with

Asked by: skip
Cut off the reed switch and throw in garbage. Tie the black and white wires together and solder em'. Isolate the green case ground. Seal up the repair water tight. Purchase a high quality piggyback tethered float switch rated for 3/4 hp or higher and your problems are gone.

I would like to run this off of a 3000W power inverter. Would this be compatible?

Asked by: SweetDaddyD
Most inverters are not designed for inductive loads, motors, e.g. Make sure that any inverter you are considering will handle the inductive load.

How to replace switch

Asked by: JJ
Water and electricity don't play well together. If you don't know what you are doing and make mistake it could very well prove deadly for you or someone you care about. I would strongly suggest that you take the pump to a certified professional that knows what he/she is doing and have done it before. We'll all sleep a lot better and safer if you do.

Used it for drainage problems in my backyard as there is a 3" paver patio drain 30' long that drains into a barrel buried in the ground and the pump empties it in seconds tthrough a 50' horizontal drain pipe.

I called the manufacturers representative and the first thing he asked, did you clean your pump every month as directed by the warranty. The pump is pumping only spring water I have under my house and should not require it to be cleaned that often. I personally would never by this product again due to the hassle I have to go thru with this vendor. I has a very limited life and for the cost of this pump it seems too much money.

Everbilt Model PSSP07501VD SKU 1000026675 S# 056144 3/4HP Date code 1506 The float switch on these are terrible. It failed and melted the switch connector in the pump due to the heat generated by the pump never shutting off. The warranty process is painfully ridiculous for a $25.00 float switch. Truth is painful, but don't buy this pump, especially if you depend on your sump pump to last more than 1 or 2 years its too expensive for the poor quality of the unit.

It worked great for the application used in, which was a very tight sump pit. After 1 1/2 years, yesterday it stopped working and my basement flooded. After testing the pump, I got nothing. Very rare for a pump motor to burn out in that short of time. I went to Home depot and purchased a new Everbilt float switch for 40 bucks for this model. Problem is, in removing the old 3 prong receptacle to unplug the float switch, Sprayed WD-40 and all but it was so rusted in there that I ended up destroying the the cord trying to get it out. Finally gave up and bought another of the exact same pump, mainly because I knew all the fittings would line up. I guess I'll take another shot here, but having to replace a pump after 1 1/2 years indicates a weak product. This pump does not run all the time. When it does, it runs well. But the float switch failing (and inaccessible to be replaced) completely sucks.

Just like all of the others, the float switch doesn't work and have to get a new one after less than two years. I guess a $30 float switch is better than getting a whole new pump, but not if you have to replace it every two years or have a basement that will flood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from float sticks-do not buy I would not advise purchasing this pump. We purchased it some time in 2016 (im still looking for the receipt) and the float has began repeatedly sticking. There are times when we do not know how many hours it had been running. If we are not constantly checking it and unsticking it, the pump will burn up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Getting wet? This works perfectly in my application. I had to reverse the float switch on the unit to work, it was really simple to do. The big bulky float ball versions are too large for my sump area. I also have a back up water pressure sump so my space is limited.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Float issues I installed one of these in August 2015, the float switch went out January 2017. I replaced the pump under warranty and the float switch went out again in December 2017. Luckily I have the guard dog system to back it up.
