1) The internet page shows a warming drawer but I dont' see it in the photo 2) Does the high heat burner had 2 rings, such that the smaller ring can be used for simmer, and if so what is the lowest BTU? We will have the propane conversion. 3) I saw mixed comments on accidentally turning on the burners when leaning against the stove. Can you discuss- do the knobs need to be pushed in and turned? 4) Where are the oven controls?
Asked by: Debby
the video incorrectly shows a warming drawer, which was a feature I wanted. it does not even have a drawer at all!

Are the burners made of brass?

I am comparing the KitchenAid 30" Downdraft Slide-In Dual Fuel Range to the Jenn-Air JDS1750ES range. They are very similar, but the Jenn-Air is described as having four brass burners. I don't see a description of the KitchenAid burners, and whether they are also made of brass.
Asked by: Barbie4343
It says they are cast iron.

Can I replace the 4 wire cord with 3 wire?

My home has a 3 wire outlet and currently I have a Jenn air duel fuel downdraft range installed. Can I replace the 4 wire cord that comes with this Kitchen aid with a 3 wire cord to fit my existing outlet?
Asked by: Texbuyer
@Texbuyer, did you ever speak with KitchenAid/Whirlpool about your wiring issue? I too have the same situation and I'm curious what the answer was they gave you. Thanks,

6.4 cu. ft. Downdraft Slide-In Dual Fuel Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 226.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very powerful gas cooktop & oven We bought this cooktop/range combination because of the type of oven we had, we needed one with a downdraft in it already. Our other oven was not working very well so this one fires up really quickly and the oven takes awhile to heat up, but it does heat evenly. A few areas of concern are the controls for the burners are on the front of the unit and they are very easy to turn on with your pockets or other clothing and when it does turn on, sometimes you don't know until you smell the gas. Plus, it's really disappointing that you spend thousands of dollars on this type of appliance, and the grates on the top are starting to lose their finish. It's from when we're using a pan and you swish the pan around either as when stir-frying or moving pots across to pull them off the heat, the grates on the top are looking worn and it's only been a couple of months. Frustrating when everything else looks brand new. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great design with dual fuel benefits. I love the look of our new downdraft slide-in stove and particularly like having the great benefit of a gas cook top and the consistent temperature of an electric oven. The downdraft system was necessary since we created an island around our stove and lost the overhead cabinets and exhaust hood. We did find however, that even on high, the downdraft was only capable of pulling approx. 20% of the visible steam (see photos) coming from a 4-1/2" tall pot of boiling liquid. Consequently, most of the steam and smell of cooking food was staying in the kitchen. I did a little experimenting and fabricated an exhaust extension which raised the height of the exhaust opening and redirected the pull of air toward the pot. Considerably more of the steam was now being exhausted. A vertical telescoping exhaust extension (manual or motor driven) capable of being positioned slightly higher than the cooking pot being used, would be an effective addition to the exhaust system. Just a thought. Bill McKay

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb baking! Needed a downdraft oven for the redesign of our kitchen. Opted for the KA over JennAir, which worked great because we fell in love with a KA refrigerator. This oven does take more work to install because of the downdraft and there is an additional fee for the duct work. I have only had the oven for a few months and in that time I have made a few recipes that I've made dozens of times before in my old oven and for some reason they came out even BETTER in this oven! If you're used to baking in a gas oven, it may take a little time to adjust to an electric but you'll be thrilled with the results once you do! There was one small problrm with the control panel but luckily it was under warrant and the seller was able to come out and replace it. It is a beautiful range and I gt complements on it all the time. It looks as though it belongs in a professional chef's kitchen. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Downdraft Done Right Bought this to replace a 15 year old Thermador with a periscoping downdraft. I was leery based on tales of center downdraft gas ranges having their heat sucked away by the vent. Not so here. A chimney built into the stovetop cast iron grids raises the inlet well above e the flame. The burner arrangement, with the big burners in front and smaller ones in the rear is design choice, but it wouldn't be mine. I'd prefer one lk arge burner in the rear. No complaints about burner power, the big burners provide plenty of heat for searing all across a 12" pan. I miss the extra-low setting on my Thermador, although raising a pan up an inch with an upside down grill basket does the trick, if a bit kludgy. I have no complaints about the controls or clearance up. The oven has seen limited use, but it hasn't burnt anything and came calibrated within 10 degrees at 450 degrees, or about 2% - very acceptable. So while not perfect, there are no showstoppers from my experience, and I would recommend this for anyone who needs a downdraft vent for their kitchen. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful, high-end range! As you may find with other reviews, there are not many options on the market if you are looking a slide-in, downdraft gas range. Fortunately, this range is great! I have not experienced any issues with lengthy preheat as I saw in some other reviews. It did take some coordinating of installers as I was converting from no-down draft prior range and from gas to electric. Had HVAC and gas folks lined up to do their work. I also had my granite folks out to cut a notch in the backsplash to slide the range as far back as possible. I replaced my prior stove 3 days before Christmas (yes, I think I lost my sanity for a moment). I managed to host a wonderfully cooked meal and my family members were all impressed with the new addition to the kitchen. I'd buy it all over again! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome heat control with TONS of features! I bought this stove about a month ago to replace an older model Jennair (that I could no longer find parts for) and I couldn't be happier. The first thing I noticed is that the eyes light so much easier and faster on the KitchenAid range. I also have a lot more control over the heat level while I'm cooking. Another thing that really shocked me was that the downdraft fan does not pull the cook flame inward towards the fan, even when the fan is on high- but the downdraft still captures everything from the air that needs to be captured. My old range's downdraft would suck the cooking flames over to the middle of the range, causing uneven cooking heat. It's also fairly quiet. The oven on this unit is also superior- it has convection and steam features. Not to mention the fact that it's very roomy, which is going to be very handy for my holiday cooking. I also love that this range is super easy to clean (inside and out). My only regret is that I did not buy KitchenAid to begin with. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as advertised and expected. We moved into a new to us home in September that already had a 2 month old Kitchen Aid electric with downdraft venting. I came from a propane home and wanted "gas" here so had it installed and sold the electric to my kids who were looking for a "new" stove. New kitchen is set up so that downdraft is the only option. Since Kitchen Aid is about the only option for that, I was pretty much locked in. They did have better reviews for service than the competition and that was a plus for me. Since I live in a locale that doesn't have natural gas, I'm stuck with LPG (propane) which has significantly fewer BTU's than NG. I just wish that I could get more heat but this will have to suffice. The stove operates easily and the controls are intuitive...If it offered a rapid pre-heat feature that my previous unit had, it would be wonderful (hint, hint). The ability to vary the simmer flame height is great....can really get it down low. Since the electric was the same stove only electric, the downdraft fit right up to existing and I didn't have to install the blower, just plug it in. Now I have a new spare if it ever gives any problems. All in all, I really like the stove and have already recommended it to others. We hanen't had an opportunity to use all of the features yet but are positive they will be as good as the ones we have utilized so far. I will update this review as I have more time using this appliuance. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Cadilliac of down draft gas ranges! If you really appreciate quality and can afford to spend a little bit more to get it, this is the down draft gas range for you! It is an appliance that will probably outlast it's original owner, and will very likely get handed down to the next generation! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
