Hi, there. Thank you for reaching out to us. The ring light on the water/ice dispenser of the LG Refrigerator (LRSOS2706S) model is designed to turn on and off as part of the refrigerator's energy-saving features. It may light up when you use the dispenser, or it could also be set to activate at certain times to signal that the dispenser is ready for use. In some models, the light can also serve as an indicator to show if there’s an issue with the water filter or if the door is open. Here are a few points to consider regarding its behavior: The light will turn on when you press the lever to dispense water or ice, indicating that the dispenser is active. When not in use, the light may turn off to save energy, which can make it seem like it goes on and off randomly. Changes in temperature or humidity around the dispenser can also affect the light's operation, as it may be designed to alert you to certain conditions. For more guidance, you may download its owner's manual through this link: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-LRSOS2706S.ASTCNA0. If you'd like more details or assistance with any other feature, feel free to send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport. We’re happy to assist. ^Juvy

Hey Simon. The freezer fan is typically located at the back of the freezer compartment on an LG fridge. It helps circulate cold air throughout the freezer and refrigerator sections to maintain the desired temperature. We can help you with the FF error code. Check out these troubleshooting steps to clear that code: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-refrigerator-troubleshooting-an-e-ff-or-e-rf-error-code--20153150964030. Hey Rich. The LG LRSOS2706D black stainless steel refrigerator does not feature a magnetic surface. The refrigerator is designed with a PrintProof™ finish, which is fingerprint- and smudge-resistant, but not magnetic. This feature helps keep the surface clean and maintains the sleek, modern look, but it won’t allow magnets to stick. ~Ivy

Hello, CarolSandstone. Your description of how your ice currently smells does not help to identify what the odor is, but the number-one culprit for foul-smelling and -tasting ice is the ice sucking in odors from your refrigerator. Air circulates between your ice maker and refrigerator, so if you have particularly pungent food in the fridge, you may taste it in the ice you grab for your beverage. “Odors from uncovered food products will transfer and be absorbed into the ice cubes that sit in the ice storage compartment. Ice makers only make ice when the storage bin drops below a certain level. If you don’t use your fridge’s ice maker regularly, the ice rests in that area for longer periods of time, which can compromise its freshness. The ice bin isn’t immune from food or drink splatter. It can be tainted by spills, resulting in a less-than-ideal ice experience for your nostrils and taste buds. You may have a hard water issue in your area that is making the ice smell. Hard water has a high concentration of minerals that can make it taste a bit off or even metallic, depending on the concentration. If hard water is creating your refrigerator ice, the ice can have that same off-taste and smell. Another possible reason your ice smells and tastes bad is due to a faulty filter. Built-in ice makers have filters that keep water crisp by removing excess minerals and impurities. If the filter is on the fritz, it won’t remove all that gunk. The ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 36-inch Wide 27 cu. Ft. Side-By-Side InstaView® Refrigerator, Model # LRSOS2706S, comes with a built-in replaceable LG LT1000P® - 6 Month / 200 Gallon Capacity Refrigerator Water Filter that reduces Chlorine Taste and Odor from your tap water. Unless your tap water has a lot of sulfur or a similarly stinky issue, the not-so-nice smell is probably coming from inside the house. More specifically, from inside your freezer. That’s because ice absorbs odors...^Ivan.
