Questions & Answers

Since this stove is an induction does it require a certain type of pot/pan to be used on it?

Asked by: Danielle
Induction cooking uses heat generated by a magnet. That's why using aluminum does not work. Plus aluminum isn't very healthy. I am able to use my stainless steel, as well as my cast iron and enamel coated cast iron on the cooktop. Induction is quicker, safer for little hands (because they won't get burned on the cooktop), and does an excellent job. I love my range - not one single complaint.

Asked by: Johnny
if at 240V 40A then at 208V should be 46+Amps. ...but I would recommend 60Amps (wire #6AWG) so it is in 80% range.

Does this range have WiFi capability? I don't find it in the manual.

Asked by: Wondering
Yes, it does have WiFi capability but i have not used it yet. There is a thin separate instruction titled "electric / gas range, samsung smart home app"

5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Induction Range with Virtual Flame Technology in Stainless Steel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t Buy I purchased this stove a month ago and on the first use the oven wouldn’t come to a desired temperature of 400 after an hour it still hadn’t got to 350. Called Home Depot they informed me it was Samsung’s issue since it was in the first 48 hrs. Called Samsung they informed me I had to have a tech come out to service it before I could get a new stove or return for my money. Which I found out later to be a lie. So I scheduled them to bring a tech out. The earliest was a week out so I scheduled that. The tech never showed... called Samsung back to find out I could just return my stove and get my money back. Scheduled a pickup for week and a half out since they weren’t running on the Saturday before Easter. Called yesterday because I hadn’t heard a window yesterday for pickup and the had canceled the pickup without letting me know. Scheduled again for Thursday will see if it works then. Over a month and still don’t have a working stove that I paid $2200 for. Worst customer service ever.

The large burner never worked properly-you had to jockey with the position of your pan for about five minutes just to get it to turn on. After it turned on, only half the burner worked so you had to constantly turn your pot to get even cooking. I received four service calls with various parts replaced - all with no success. In the meantime, my oven started malfunctioning. Sometimes it would heat up and sometimes it wouldn't!! I started requesting a refund...It is now 12 March of 2018 and I am still hearing : "We are reviewing the refund request." I will never buy Samsung again after this experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First off electric cooking in general stinks compared to gas. If you don't have gas, induction is... First off electric cooking in general stinks compared to gas. If you don't have gas, induction is as close as you're going to get and arguably in some ways better (except a gas stove will last a lot longer for sure) . We're not big cooks, just normal fare to get the kids fed, just picked this up as wife wanted a slide in and if I'm going to spend a grand on elements may as well spend a bit more and get the latest. The safety of the cooktop attracted me as the kids grow older and they help make dinner. Also I like knobs this has them. We've had this unit for about 9 months now so keep that in mind, purchased from Home Depot. Before purchase I read every review and article I could find...let me hit the high points * does it make noise, yes a very slight hum on the burners, and there's a fan that runs for a bit to cool circitry. The hum, I don't even hear it maybe just a little...in hindsight I can't believe the nonsense I read in reviews on that, I have two sets of cookware calphalon (which a few are induction ready) and cruisinart induction ready try-ply. From the reviews I thought it was going to sound like Nikola Tesla was performing experiments or something in the room. You will hear the fans that cool the circuitry, pretty soft, maybe about the same level as low on a quality non birdcage motor vent hoot. Convection does make noise from the fan, any convection does. Convection is awesome, everything is cooked properly from kids pizza, corndogs whatever rock frozen kids stuff you put in to real meals we cook...the kids stuff used to always not seem 100% or you weren't sure with non convection . * knobs are sensitive you just bump the range and turn something on lol, anyways no biggie the burners shut off after a period of time (minute or so dunno) if no pan is put on them. A real nice bonus. * burners do require a certain coverage to work, otherwise they'll shutoff with a beep notice. I thought that was going to be a big deal but it wasn't at all, I never have any problems. * heat up time is as good as they say, it is crazy FAST, I don't wait more than a minute for anything to get up to temp (or so), I don't time it I just know I can't go off for 10 minutes like I used to with old electric waiting for heat time. A small pot of water is boiling in under 2 minutes? or so I dunno it's fast, seems faster than gas even. Burner temp much more like gas, reduce the heat it's reduced....no waiting for elements to cool down so you tend not to overcook if you're in a rush. I feel the induction burners are tons more controllable than elements, low feels like low instantly, medium simmer all work very well and more like gas in terms of reaction. * we cook with paper towels on the top all the time sauces, bacon, etc makes cleanup much quicker. * keep in mind the absolute minimum height for this stove is 36 inches. that's a standard cabinet height + 3cm granite. If you've refloored around your cabinets and have a 3cm (~1 1/4inch) granite, you'll be ~ 1/4 inch short from touching the counter top. We found the easiest way to remedy that was to cut the pads off the feet, that gives you more than the 1/4 so you have some play, cutting out the floor will make it too difficult to slide into your spot. * I read a few reviews about people breaking tops. I'm pretty convinced from reading reviews on all products and working in technical support *no* one reads a manual, the glass lips are supported under the edge by steel but there should be a 1/16 space above your counter all around. I suspect people are slamming pans, or overheating pans or something. I can't say for 100% but I'm not worried about this after 9 months. * the wifi thing...just silly it seems. I didn't research this and don't care about it but from a quick glance at the manual it requires the Samsung hub things and iirc you can check temps or something. * the led flames *are* cool when used with stainless. I really got sucked in by those over other brands lol. In hindsight with induction I find myself putting down paper towels all the time and cooking over those so I don't have to do post cleanup. So in the end the led's weren't that big of a deal but still nice indicator when I don't use paper towels. 1 month later I forgot they were there. * I'm hesitant about long term reliability on this unit especially at the cost, but induction has been around a long time, examining the parts diagrams look reasonably ok to repair diy of course as nothing is worth calling repair folks in for these days. I can't remember if this has self clean if so we don't use that option..it's a sure way to fry circuit boards over time. This model has a steam clean option, haven't tried it yet but that seems reasonably safer. Non exposed elements in the oven is pretty neat and makes hand cleaning quick and easy. * in a small kitchen you gain some counter space with this, turn the burner off and put your hand right on it...it will only be warm. So as things are cooking we can put plates, etc whatever on the cook top immediatly whereas with the elements you couldn't use that space immediately due to cool down time. * this thing was expensive to me. I'd rather have gas it's more reliable of course...but....if you have no choice, I'd buy this again so far. It would be really hard to go back to regular elements. Though I would consider a normal element stove then some stand alone induction burners and a small counter convection for the kids stuff, but counter space is tight, so this made the most sense all things considered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! We just got the stove today and have been playing with it all afternoon and evening. Tested all of the cooking and cleaning features and no hick ups. Boils water insanely fast! And seems to instantly heat our pans! My wife put the pan on the induction "element" for about 20 seconds at medium and took that time getting some butter for it...she put the butter in the pan and the butter started bubbling and melting and you could feel the heat from the pan already. That's amazing. We tested boiling a large pot of water and within 30 seconds to a minute you could see bubbles forming on the bottom of the pan, and it didn't take long for full boil - much faster than our previous glass-top electric. Tested a small pot like you would use for KD...I walked away to help my wife with something and when I came back a minute later it was boiling rapidly! That was much faster than I was ever used to with the glass-top electric and so I didn't think it would be a problem walking away for a minute! My wife says that our kitchen looks a lot more expensive now. Not too expensive though for the great food I'll cook on it! Well, we love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful range! Love this induction range! It heats fast, even, and precisely. Bake/convection bake is perfect for even cooking. It is also very pretty! Love the blue flame, love the sleekness of it. So easy to clean! The smart WiFi feature is cool, The timers electronic alarm is a little too low, and it is easy to brush against the glass control panel turning something on, but it has an easy to use lock out, and nothing happens if there's not a pan on the cooktop, so it's easy to forgive these very minor shortcomings. Did I mention how sleek this range is?! I've only had it a couple weeks, but I love it so far, and will update if I encounter any issues. Very happy so far.

It works faster than gas and can be totally clean. This stove is easy to use, really spacious oven, and the warming drawer allows for some useful pot storage. We haven't yet used the broiler or all of the oven functions. Baking lasagna though was quite a bit faster than usual, just as a convection oven should be.

This range looks great in our kitchen and is the focus of our remodel. My wife loves the LED lights that show when the induction burners are on, as well as how easily it cleans. The speed and control of the induction surface has to be tried to be believed. Water boils faster than in the microwave. No double boiler needed to make ganache! The cavernous convection oven evenly bakes three half-bakers sheets of cookies at one time. That's 54 cookies every 10 minutes. It's like we came out of the Stone Age and arrived at a miraculous future.

This never ceases to amaze me.... first the lack of a back panel is fantastic... second, induction cooks about 100 times better than gas.... no matter what, a gas flame is ~2550 degrees, a regular electric cooktop just turns on and off and on and off... this cooks precisely to temperature, even if you want to just have a soft stick of butter, but still look like a stick of butter... all the way to making hard candies that require super high temps. You can even get an induction flat griddle pan to hit 950 degrees so you can make pizza in about 6 minutes.... it's fast, doesn't heat up your kitchen, the flex duo oven is great, the probe roasting is great, and we use the warming drawer all the time. We've gone from a $14K gaggenau double oven and warming drawer and $4K thermador electric cooktop to this... and this is by far so much better... don't even hesitate... buy it.
