Q:can this be used as sheathing for a garage? I have to rebuild the sill plate, studs and sheathing, insulation and the exterior siding. using treated lumber for sill&studs.
I understand its grade 1 meaning its used for only short exposure; not permanent.

A: Paula, Blue Ribbon OSB is Exposure 1 grade, not exterior grade. The applications are all interior such as flooring, wall and roofing.

A: Matt, if you are using the attic for storage and not a living space, you can use 1/2" OSB. If you are using the attic for living space, then we recommend using 19/32" or 23/32" subfloors or the thickness your local code official requires.

A: A professional tile installer told me to use 3/4" exterior glue plywood under Hardy Board for ceramic or stone tile. You don't want the subfloor to flex or absorb moisture.
