A: That's one of the best features about this fan - they don't assign a name, so each buyer can decide what the fan's name is. I call mine Rick. Rick does a great job blowing air, but he's not great at conversation. Which makes sense, because Rick is a fan - that would be weird, not sure I'd like that!
A: Correct - this is a "brandless" (on the box) fan made in China by Midea, and distributed by Midea America in Florida
A: It's 11.5 inches high and will fit a window opening width of 24 to 32 inches.
A: If it doesn't list the height I don't remember because I installed it in a lady-friend's apt kitchen window as a cooking exhaust fan and for general circulation. I do know that fully extended it does not fill a common 32" wide window opening. Max is 30-something inches. Min might be 23 - 24".
A: The product you purchased is the same fans I bought at the H D. For the money I don't think you can do better. On low and medium speed they are very quiet on high they get a little louder but after all it is a fan blowing air. They have all the features, Thermostat, side expanders, electrically reversible, Quiet.
A: This is not a Pelonis fan, as you will see when you open the box. It's made by a Chinese appliance manufacturer call Midea.
A: it is very quiet, but you do hear the whisp of the blades running, very little motor noise if any.
A: I feel that it is suitable for such use. I had one in my bedroom in an apartment I used to live in and found it to be OK. Actually whatever noise it makes it is considered to be white noise, which, in fact some machines are designed to do so to help you sleep while drowning other annoying sounds. I liked to keep mine in extractor mode--as in moving air out of the bedroom to the outdoors. It circulates the air in the rest of the dwelling into the bedroom. Leaving the bathroom door open it smells good after a shower. I also have a feeling that in extractor mode it keeps the outside noise somewhat out. Enjoy!
A: It really depends on the amount of airflow you want. Medium speed may be your choice. Me, I like it always on high, good airflow and the sound helps me sleep by blocking outside occasional noise. Low speed is very quiet, by the way. I have gone through many window fans over the years. Some disappointed out of the box, others lasted only a year or so as the fans slowed down with use.. This is the best window fan I have ever bought, hands down.
A: Hi Smitty, the fan assembly is 24 inches wide however, there is a solid extension panel for use on the left side of the fan and a pull out fan type extender on the right. I have my fan in a window that is 34 inches wide using both extension panels. You could improvise if you need to go wider.
A: I think it is around 34-36 inches with both wings attached and extended.
A: Yes, it has 3 speeds and at low, you can barely hear it. It's the quietest fan I've ever owned.
A: This fan is quite quiet. The dual motors make no sound as in no hum or resonance. All you hear is what little comes from the blades and the air passing through the front and back grills, both of which are inevitable.
A: A half answer to that is that you do not have to remove the screen when mounted in a sash window since this fan is not that deep on the backside. It would depend on the clearance between the rails of the slider and the screen. In any case, removing the screen would be a mistake b/c the fan's front and back grills are too coarse to keep critters out.
A: You can install it vertically in a sliding window, if you need to use the expanders you should use the solid one on the bottom to keep the fan from sliding towards the bottom if the window is not closed tight. Depending on how much room you have between the window sash and the screen you can leave the screen in place in most cases.
A: I have one in a window that is 34 inches wide and it fits but I have it installed so I can open and close the window whiteout removing it.
A: 32" seems to be it's limit, but that can be easily solved (and sealed) by adding some inexpensive foam strips at each end. I suspect that you may still be able to accommodate 33" by adjusting the fan unit left or right after inserting into the window at full extension.
A: This fan opens to a width of 25.4 inches with the addition of the extension panels.
A: Doesn't quite reach all the way across to fit a 35" opening. You'll need some foam insulation to close the gap.
A: It's not silent but the lowest setting is pretty quiet, medium setting is louder but not bad. The highest setting is louder than I'd like.
A: It has 3 speeds, low, med and high. It is quiet on med and low, it gets a little louder on high but not excessively so. It is electronically reversible too.
A: It is pretty quiet, but remember, you don't buy a fan to make things quiet, a fan is for moving air from one place to another place! I guess if you have quiet air on one side, and loud air on the other, you could blow the quiet air into the loud air, which would make it more quiet. Good luck! You still have to decide which side of the fan to be on though.
