Q:Does this pipe only have perforations/ holes on the top of the pipe (similar to 1 or 2 hole triple wall PVC)? Or is the pipe perforated all the way around, allowing drainage directly down through the pipe as well as water diversion along the pipe during heavier rain events?

A:  On a French drain holes should point down (4 and 8 o'clock). The kit I received had holes all the way around.

A:  The intent of this design is to divert as much water as possible away form the structure (house). In my case I had it buried with an overflow at the end run (pop up which is sold separately). seems to be working well.

A:  I did buy this product and went and checked for all the perforations. There are multiple holes all around the pipe. There are at least 5 holes if not 6 that allow for drainage.

A:  yes, and that is all you need. You install with the holes pointing down, that allows water to go into the pipe and began flowing before water would have to accumulate to the top of the pipe to get into it. Mine works well and now the sidewalk does not flood. BE SURE that you have the pipe sloping downward , getting deeper, from start to finish so it drains well.

A:  It has half-inch long, narrow slits all the way around. I've used several of these as a secondary french drain, laid alongside the NDS Easy Drain.

                          Answer This Question

A:  I had no problem installing with a 180 degree bend. Note: I installed the pipe about six inches from foundation. When it came to the corner, I had some play, so it is not an exact 180, but pretty close. Pipe is very flexible.

                          by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes, as you can see by looking at the photo of the product with white binding strips wrapped around it in 3 places. However, to deploy to 50 ft in length, you stretch it out by pulling on both ends. Once fully stretched out, it would take up much more space to bend 180 degrees. So, I would recommend not stretching it out in the region(s) where you want it to bend 180 degrees. I don't recall if it can be easily collapsed back down lengthwise once expanded, but you might have to do this in order to get your bends in the right places for your layout.

A:  It is very flexible, and can be turned 180 degrees (or more), but if you require a sharp turn, it may be best to buy a T-joint and cap one side.

A:  Yes. It comes with a 180 bend. It's hard to tell by the picture but think of the pipe as a horseshoe and the legs of the horseshoe are really long. The legs are folded backwards on top of themselves and meet on top of and in the center of the arch of the horseshoe. Hope that helps. KK

Q:Is this pipe suitable to be buried and used for a french drain in my yard? Before I purchase around 250', I want to make sure its suitable for my application. I have a soggy back yard due to a big hill that has a natural spring in it. It is always a bit soft and it turns into a marsh for two days when it rains. I would like to make a drainage system in the yard. Dig a few 2' deep trenches and put in gravel, pipe, more gravel, and about 7-8" of topsoil with seed and straw. Is this perforated pipe suitable for doing french style yard drains. All drains are to be graded towards and connected to PVC that is already buried in the yard for downspout drains. What is the proper way to connect this 4"corrugated to an existing PVC drain. Is there a coupler that has corrugated spiral connection on one end and a clamp-able fernco style connection on the other? Other question is, would you use non corrugated for the run that leads to the existing drain tie in, or stick with the corrugated? Answers and any addition tips or suggestions for my application would be greatly appreciated, even its "use a different one of our products." I have attached a picture for reference. The hill is marked in red letters. The proposed drains are the blue lines. They all get graded, connect, and fed into the 3" PVC that is at the bottom of the downspout of the all season room. I'm also toying with the idea of adding one more drain in the hill itself, as the hill is mushy all the time. Any thoughts or ideas on that? Feel free to reach out via the supplied email address if it will be a lengthy response or if there are questions about the project. THANK YOU!

A:  Yes I just put one in my backyard the beginning of December I went from the street straight back made a a big you through the backyard and out the other side to the sidewalk the biggest pain in the butt is getting all of the roots of any trees or plants that might be in your way and leveling it so that it will flow and not just be standing water in the drain. Hope that helps KK

A:  This is for sure a good option for a French drain. I had the same problem you describe, but in my front yard and in a region a bit uphill from my home. With some laborers, we dug an 8" wide by 12" deep trough, laid the corrugated pipe in the trough, packed it with gravel (sides and top) and topped it off with some native, but fairly porous dirt. In practice it drains very well. I do recall it being a bit of a problem to connect to a section of straight PVC pipe. We solved this by making the end of the corrugated pipe compressible by cutting some 2-3 " long slots into the end we wanted to join to the straight pipe. We then stuffed the tapered down corrugated pipe into the straight section and wrapped the joint with gorilla tape just ensure that it didn't come apart.

It’s best if you get this pipe with the sock to help keep dirt out of the line and cause a blockage. For best results it’s best if you lay a layer of pea gravel over the pipe before you cover the line this will help keep all dirt and debris out of your new drain line
