Q:If this is a latex based product that forms a film, how is this classified as a 'stain'. I'm looking for a solid stain that allows the wood to breathe and allow moisture to escape. Does this 'stain' trap moisture or allow 'breathing'?

A: Hi Trey,
Thank you for your question. This product can be applied directly to bare wood, along with water and oil-based paints and stains in good condition. It is also a durable, stand-alone product, so applying a separate sealer on top of isn't necessary. Best - Sara

A: Hi Painter,
Thank you for your question. Our House and Fence Stain isn't recommended to be used on decks, as it won't resist the foot traffic. However, you can use our Solid Color Stain (https://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-gal-White-Base-Solid-Color-Waterproofing-Exterior-Wood-Stain-and-Sealer-501101/203223471) instead.
