Q:If my room is 486 sq will this heater work Even though it's rated for 400 sq ft?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Justi,
Rule of thumb is you need 7 to 10 watts per square foot depending on insulation. I would recommend the 4000W unit especially if this will be your only source of heat. Glen Dimplex Americas Customer Experience Team

A: All or nothing. When the heater coils are on, both fans are on. No speed control or in-betweens. When the thermostat triggers off, the heater and fans both turn off, also. Kind of disappointing since the coils are still hot and I think should be cooled about 1 minute after power off. But it is basically an economy unit. I wired a high voltage switched programmable thermostat that works so much better than the included knob thermostat or the optional HV wall unit. But this CANNOT BE WIRED DIRECTLY - it has to be done through a thermostat low voltage switch to a high voltage switch, which is not a standard available product.

A: You bet! But it needs to be controlled with a specific high voltage switch thermostat. But the thermostat available at Home Dept is NOT programmable. [Double-pole 22 Amp Line Voltage 120/240/208-volt Mechanical Wall-mount Non-programmable Thermostat in White. Internet #303733757

Store SO SKU #1002852449]. You cannot us the typical and common programmable thermostats since they are only low voltage (<24v) and would blow up.

Q:Could you place this 2-3' below a TV without it melting it? I.e. are the blowers powerful enough that it isn't super hot just above the heater?

A: I would not put it below a tv it gets way too hot
by|Mar 10, 2022
A: I wouldn't recommend placing it that high on a wall for esthetic reasons and efficiency. Heat rises so the lower the better. To answer the question it would not melt the TV

A: The dial on the lower left is a thermostat. We keep it at about the 4 oclock position and it keeps a 14 x 28 insulated workshop at 70 degrees. It turns off and on just like your house thermostat. Just does not have a display or degree marking. First winter in Pa with it and it worked very well.

A: It has a built in thermostat which turns itself off when the environment reaches the desired temperature. The thermostat never technically has an "off" switch, so you may find it running while the dial is off. Happens during freeing Temps, as mine is in the garage

A: It has a thermostat that you can set and it shuts off automatically. We are using ours with the external thermostat that does the same thing. They recommend for you to turn it all the way up and when it gets to a comfortable temp, turn the dial back until it clicks and it holds that temp. There is no indicator to tell you what temperature you are setting unless you have the external thermostat. We also supplement with a cheap digital thermometer to monitor the temp.

A: Best to use an external thermostat. The one in the unit is terrible, as it is at the lower level of the unit, floor level. You want temperature regulated in your living space. There is a wall unit for 220-240 v you can buy, just search the Home Depot website or even Lowes. I tried the wall unit and it worked well, but I needed something for timed on/off for when I left the house for work or trips. I finally ended up using a programmable thermostat with a high voltage solid state switch for the heater, custom design. So as long as you have a thermostat in the right area, it should work. Otherwise you may be right that the safety limit switch is kicking in wrongly. In that case, call the company and let them troubleshoot your isse.
