A: not growing. hope it lives
A: Hey; Lizard: I don't know if you're saying you bought one of these plants at Home Depot, was it a Costa Farms Plant? But I had mine delivered in the mail, and it came in a nice little white ceramic pot: The directions said that it shouldn't need to be repotted for quite a while. Also, the instructions say to be very cautious about watering too much! Mine started to lose leaves, but I let up on watering, by a lot! It should be in a bright but not direct sun spot. So far, I have no complaints at all about Costa Farms Plant folks, or any of the plants... I even took a small cutting from the original and it is coming right along. I would have left the original soil mix in the plant pot, so maybe it's the miracle gro soil that doesn't suit the fiddle leaf plant. Does he still have any green growing? I hope you can take a bit of it and plant it in some other soil, maybe start over fresh! Good luck with them.
A: I've just moved the plant into a larger pot. I only went up to what I consider "the next size" where it will continue to grow. I use plant food when I repot, but certainly not each time I water - that would be too much of a good thing.
A: No
A: I removed it and put it in a bigger pot. You only feed the plant once a month not every time you water it.
A: Hi, Newbie; I don't think you will have to repot for a long time, maybe 3 or 4 years, but only if they look uncomfortable - and I would hold off on fertilizer unless a little bit once or twice a season. Mine are doing great. Don't water more than they absolutely require. Good luck!
A: Hi! The Fiddle Leaf Fig is not a palm tree but a Ficus. It is also known as the Ficus Lyrata. We hope this helps!
A: This plant is a "dwarf" variety, so it is best suited as a coffee table type plant - one that provides a small, living accent to your living area. It will grow a little larger, but not by much. If you want one of those larger plants of the same variety that grow up to six feet tall, you will have to purchase a different variety.
A: Yes I got it when they said, but the problem is it’s starting to look bad, Im tiring to help it get back to looking good. I followed everything about the plant that they sent me so Let’s hope it rebounds some what. If not it’s money gone and I will never buy this type of plant again.
A: This is not a type of palm. This is like a fig tree it has big leaves and they also call it the fiddle leaf. The small one has smaller leaves and is a nice indoor plant.
A: It can get very tall or you can control the height with cutting back. Do it in spring, when it is beginning to wake up. Do not do over winter when more dormant. sometimes it can get top heavy , with trunk not big enough to support weight. I have 2 that are tall (18 feet) and they have a plant support to keep straight.
A: Hello, MK: I am so happy with mine, I can't imagine being too mad about it growing to be ten feet tall, my foyer has a ceiling of like twenty feet, so let it grow! But as I'm reading about them, it is said that they can become bigger than one might want. About 20 feet tall! You can also trim the main 'trunk' at a point where you're happy with the height, say it's five feet tall and that's where you want it to stay, you can cut the top of the plant off to keep it at that size, but it will become more bushy and thick after that. I hope you will enjoy it!
A: Yes fiddle leaf figs are toxic to pets
A: According to the information I was able to find online, the fiddle leaf ficus lyrata plant is toxic to dogs and cats.
A: Hi, Lysa; it took a while to locate this info, but as it turns out, if your pet actually ingests a part of this plant, , it is toxic! "Is Fiddle Leaf Fig poisonous? Yes. Ficus lyrata is toxic to people, cats and dogs. It should not be eaten and its sap may cause skin irritation. It's a good idea to wear gloves when pruning and repotting this plant" This quote was taken from https://www.guide-to-houseplants.com/fiddle-leaf-fig.html I didn't know this myself, and have a cat, so it's good we found out!
A: The Little Fiddle is not a full size Fiddle Leaf Fig! It will not grow into a stately tree like plant, but will get only 4 ft high at maturity. I have one of these and did not know it was a smaller version until recently. Look for one that has a large main trunk if you want the tree like version, recommend going in person to pick it out. My little fiddle has multiple small bushy stems and will never grow into a tree. It's still a nice plant though!
A: Hi, NewPlantOwner; I understand that these can grow to almost 20 feet eventually, but if you want it to remain a certain size, you can cut the top off at the size you like, though it will become bushy and thicker afterwards. I love mine. Hope you'll enjoy yours!
A: I assume so but I am a rookie so don’t know what I will be able to grow.
A: I have had my fiddle leaf ficus plant for only a few months, but it already has almost doubled in size. The information I was able to find on this plant when I first got it stated it can grow to be 6 feet tall or larger.
A: It can grow as tall as you want. I have 2 that are 18 feet and I just keep chopping them back by taking off top 2 feet. I propagate the cut tops in water and make new plants that I give away. Do not be afraid to cut back , use very clean clippers and do not get sap on carpet or floor. ( Stains) I put old bath towels down first. they do drip for awhile , just let them heal off. wherever you cut, there will be two sprouts after that. Use this as a guide , for how you want to control height vs fullness.
A: No it is a grow pot with drainage holes in a cover pot with no holes
A: It comes in a growers pot and ceramic pot. The growers pot has drainage holes. The ceramic pot does not.
A: No drainage holes
A: Hi Joma! The decor container does not have holes. We recommend watering this plant with 1 cup of water once every 10 days. We hope this helps!
A: The white pot does not have drainage holes. However, the black plastic potter the tree is in does. I just take the plant out to water it, let it sit for 15 mins or so then put it back in the white pot
A: So the plant comes in the growers pot, so what I did was I left it in the pot since it has the drainage holes and just placed it in the ceramic pot.
A: There is a grow pot within the ceramic pot and has drainage holes. The white ceramic does not.
A: The pot does not have drainage holes therefore I transplanted mine into a pot with drainage holes to avoid possible root rot.
A: No. The ceramic pot does not have holes in the bottom. I have to lift out my plant in it's plastic planter, water it, let it drain properly, and then place it back in the pot.
A: Hello, Joma; There is a smaller pot within the 6 in. ceramic pot, and that one has lots of holes for drainage. You can lift up the plant and see it is a very nicely fitting pot for this container, best of both worlds! Good luck with your fiddle leaf ficus! I love mine!
