A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. Providing that the tool has the proper amount of clearance (to fit in and around the work are), the finishing tools (contained in the ProCaulk kit) could be used to tool/smooth a bead of caulk/sealant in the joint interface as described (counter top to backsplash). Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

Q:The caulk saver caps do not fit on the caulking tubes. Many folks raised the same problem, but DAP is not giving an answer besides to call their support. What is the proper way to place the caps and turn them since they have threads? I had to hit them hard against the garage floor which secured them and then I put painters tape for extra hold.

A:  I think they revised them, the ones I just bought are rubbery and stretched over the tube end.

A:  I purchased the large professional caulk to fit my gun.

              by|Oct 15, 2019

A:  My caps are just rubber tops. They hold fairly securely if the caulk tube is stationary. They don't have an extremely firm hold if you move the tube around abruptly

A:  The little red caulk saver caps worked just fine. One must make sure that that you don't cut off so much of the nozzle on the tube of caulk that you exceed the diameter of the caulk saver cap

A:  Thank you for posting your review. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the caps found in the DAP PRO Caulk Tool Kit. We are aware that the caps do not fit all cartridge nozzles, DAP is working to design a cap with better universal fitment for this kit.

A:  I put the tips on one edge, pulled the opposite side over, then grabbed the tip at the base and twisted while pushing. The tips are very flexible and stretchy. Don't be afraid to stretch them, none of mine broke and they fit both large and small tube ends.

A:  The 3 included caulk saving caps are designed to screw onto the caulk squeeze tube and keep the unused caulk from congealing in the squeeze tube. The caps are NOT designed to screw on the end of the tapered clear plastic tube. That you will need to clean after every use.

A:  You can use a nail that will cover the hold, but coat the nail with WD40. And install the nail in the hold.

A:  Simple solution. Cut any 'finger' from a latex glove. Fit this over caulk tube nozzle. Now secure this 'finger' with a rubber band on the nozzle. Put tube in the caulk gun. Squeeze gun trigger slowly, enough to form a slight bulge in the 'finger'. Remove tube from gun. There you have it. Store at room temp. I have had success with caulking still usable up to a year!

Q:Is the tool suitable with sanded caulk?

                        Answer This Question

A:  The DAP PRO Caulk Tool Kit can be used with both smooth and textured materials. Because sanded materials do not always have consistent texture, a test application should be conducted prior to the actual project in order to familiarize yourself with the product and application process. Heavily sanded or textured materials may also cause premature wear to the application tools.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry, unfortunately we are not able to provide specific clean up instructions, as there was not enough detail provided. While in their uncured state, as a general rule, latex based caulks/sealants can be cleaned up with water. Silicone, polyurethane, synthetic rubber and asphalt based caulks/sealants require solvents such as mineral spirits (paint thinner) for clean up.
