Q:These vents are only 22 inches wide? Do you have a 24 inch wide product? My rafters are 24" wide, so these aren't quite wide enough to protect the entire area. How bih a problem is having a couple of inches on each rafter not vented? Thanks!

Answer This Question

A:  Building codes require a 1" air gap through the insulation. Our vents are made to be secured to the roof decking, allowing for the 1" air gap between the roof sheeting and the insulation.

A:  They have a perforation down the middle. Just split them at the perforation and use one side per vent space.

Q:Is this needed all the way to the ridge vent on a vaulted ceiling?

      Answer This Question

A:  If you are vaulting the ceiling, yes you would need to run them all the way up. If not you only need to run them far enough up to be clear of the insulation.

Q:How do you measure attic space
            by|May 21, 2022
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  Do you mean how do you determine how many rafter vents you need to install in your attic? Sometimes it is easiest to count the openings between the trusses in your attic. Our 22-inch vents fit between a 24-inch on-center space. If you have 16-inch on-center openings, split our 22-inch vents in half. Staple the rafter vent to the roof decking. A conventional attic will typically need only one or two vents per opening, depending on the depth of your insulation. The purpose of the vent is to channel air through the insulation. The vent should reach from above the top plate to a few inches above your insulation.

              Answer This Question

A:  For the rafter vents simply count the spaces between the rafters if they are spaced on 24" centers, or the vents are easily divided in half if your rafters are on 16" centers

A:  You can purchase the windblock separately. Or you can purchase the Durovent Baffle that is the windblock and vent all in one.

A:  No it is not included with the purchase I made. I purchased the full length product and their shorter version with the folding windblocker.

Q:DV 2248 - It says it is perforated for splitting for use in 16" on center, but the perforated halves are 10.5" or so - do I just center in the cavity? A couple inches on each side of exposed roof decking - that is okay?

A:  That may be ok depending on your circumstance, if you are going to halve it do your best to line it up with your vents, so if there are three holes see if you can line it up with as many as possible of if it’s a slot with screen try to line it up with that, your goal should be to maximize airflow.

A:  You have a couple of options - we sell a Windblock product which can be used with the Durovent to block the wind from beneath and around the vent. Assemble the Windblock first following the directions printed on it. You will note the vent gets installed further to one side rather than in the middle. If you are not using a Durovent - you can center the product and place rolled fiberglass between the top plate and the underside of the Durovent, This helps channel the air through the vent. A:  This product is made of a type of dense styrofoam. It is dense enough to be stapled in place. For exact specification I suggest you contact the manufacturer.
