    Q:Can it handle a vise?
    by|Nov 17, 2018

    Answer This Question

A:  It could. I guess it would depend on the vise and usage. I would not put it in a shop that does heavy work. Table is too narrow and the danger of it falling over would be a possibility. However, a light to medium vise without heavy usage would be fine. Top is sturdy and heavy. But it is a pressed wood type and therefore getting it wet would not fair well. Do not get me wrong, the whole table is strong, we have stacked parts on it, for counting, and it handled the weight. Around 300 lbs. We did not leave it there. The table never felt shaky, Just the height made us feel someone would knock it over.

A:  Yes, this product will handle a vise.

A:  Yes but this is a terrible product

A:  Not sure I would trust the particle board top (NOT WOOD) to handle a vise; depends on the size/weight of the vise. May want to mount it through the top steel portions of the frame (which may not be too easy ). I CERTAINLY wouldn't mount a vise to the top with wood screws!!!

              Answer This Question

A:  I don’t know where it was made, but I can state that the butcher block top was of the highest quality. Easy to stain and finish. Used this piece in a remodeled laundry room. Perfect for folding clothes.

                Answer This Question

A:  No, this product should not be trimmed. Yes, the laminated plastic top is waterproof.

                by|Oct 13, 2018

A:  Jacko, this is a laminate top. So it will resist moisture but if standing water is left on it and it finds the seam the laminate could be damaged and eventually warp. If you cut it then there will be exposed particle board which would not do well with water and would void any warranty claims. I hope this helps.

                  Answer This Question

                  A:  The bottom shelf is 13” x 48”.

                  by|Jan 22, 2019

A:  There are two structurally folded raised ridges, "backbones," along the front and back edges as seen in the Edsal company photo. Overall width is 13 inches while ridge center lines are 12 inches apart. Certainly boxes of a given size can ride over the ridges. Useful contained flat storage surface in between the ridges is 11 inches.

A:  The bottom shelf is 42 1/2” wide and 13” deep. It has a lip on it, front and back, so actual flat part is about 11”. Touch photo for better view.

A:  When new it appeared to not be treated. Regardless, even when treated on both sides with food safe mineral oil, it warped beyond any good use (1/2" to 3/4" from center at each side. Ended up as firewood. Sorry.

A:  There is no finish on the wood , bare wood. Would need to be finished before food preparation.

A:  Really no way of knowing, all indications point to a utility surface as it describes, "Ideal for tool and die work, electrical wiring, fabric cutting, industrial arts or office" so I would not recommend it for food grade or kitchen use.

A:  it is safe to use for food preparation; however we've decided to use a cutting board on top of it to avoid scratch marks from a knife. Don't have an answer to the second question or third question. We treat it with wood oil once a year to preserve the wood.
