A:  The drawer can be mounted anywhere between the support legs as it just screws to the wood top. So, you locate it, drill the pilot holes, then drive the screws in. I chose to mount mine on the far left, rather than the far right as pictured.

            Q:Does the 36" "width" refer to the distance between the legs? I'd have thought that dimension is Depth.

            A:  The width refers to the distance from one edge to the opposite edge.

              A:  No. 36” is the depth you need for whatever bench surface you are using.

                A:  There are a number of products on Home Depot that would work for you. Howard 12 oz. Butcher Block Conditioner Model # BBC012 and Howard 12 oz. Cutting Board Oil Model # BBB012. Also available is Watco's specially formulated Butcher Block Oil and Finish Model # 241758. All of these items are rated food safe. I hope this helps.
