Q:To support a 10" deep shelf (4' long), what size bracket is recommended? I'm looking at the Olympic or the Thorton bracket. Thanks.

A:  Thank you for your interest in our product. Generally speaking the most important measurement for this type of application is the depth measurement, you want the depth of the bracket to be between 50% - 75% of the depth of the overhang. So in this case you would want a bracket with a depth of 5" - 8"

This includes, (A) toe nailing the bracket/corbel from the sides, (B) screwing straight through the corbel or bracket, (C) screwing through the wall from behind into the bracket/corbel, (D) *use the keyhole to hang the bracket (decorative only).                 A:  Great Question. Although these brackets have not gone through formal testing, under normal applications and assuming they are installed into a wall stud, they are more than sufficient to support over 100 lbs. I would recommend that you consult an on site engineer, to discuss your specific projects requirements.
