Q:Can these washers be used for corrugated metal hurricane panel installation backed up by quarter inch nuts?

Answer This Question
A: I would use these washers and shorter construction screws to secure flake board or plywood hurricane panels to the wood window trim. Remember to putty and paint the screw holes (you will make) in the trim after you take the panels down. I live in Florida and that is what I have used. These washers are called fender washers because they were used to secure the fenders on early cars to the car body. If they were designed to hold the fenders on a 1937 Buick Roadmaster I can't see why they wouldn't work great on corrugated metal hurricane panels (zink plated to resist rust).

A: these fender washers are not rated for that type of use
for safery's sake, would recommend hurricane-rated items

A: We always recommend referring to the hurricane storm panel manufacturers installation instructions. However, using these fender washers for installation should be fine. Several of the storm panel manufacturers recommend using wing nuts.

Q:The product description says inside diameter is 0.1875 inch. That's 3/16" not 3/8"....and actually for the washer to fit a 3/8" diameter bolt, the hole needs to be 7/16" approx.
