Q:Can the fence post be screwed on top of the composited deck?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question. The decking itself is not structural for stability. Any post that would be mounted to the surface would need additional blocking underneath the decking to bolt thru to be stable and secure. Please contact the fence post manufacturer to ensure their requirements would be met for safety purposes.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question. Joist spacing depends on the method of installation. If the boards are installed perpendicular to the joists, then the spacing would be 16", if they are installed on a diagonal, then the joist spacing would be reduced to 12".

Q:Would ground contact be a problem? Looking to make raised garden beds

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question. The deck boards are only specified for above ground use as they are 50% untreated wood fiber. Being in contact with the soil can allow for the material to absorb ground moisture, leading to premature degradation. If used in raised garden beds, we recommend it is lined to protect the material from the moisture.
