Q:Can this dryer be converted to propane?

    Answer This Question

A:  Some can with just a flip of a plate in the control valve. With this unit I believe you need a conversion kit that can be bought separately. Here's an answer right from GE that I answered for another customer. I would contact GE to see if it can be done or if they offer a kit to convert the dryer. GE Answers June 29, 2020 Hi Paul - Thanks for choosing GE! Model # GTD72GBPNDG is compatible with LP Conversion Kit WE25X0217 (sold separately). The optional LP conversion kit contains all necessary parts and the installation instructions needed to properly convert the dryer. A video is not available. We recommend a qualified installer or servicer convert the gas dryer to the proper gas supply needed. The conversion must be in accordance with the our instructions and all codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue

A:  There are 4 1/4" punch-outs on each side. Measuring 6 1/4" from the back will put you to the far side of the hole. Measuring 6" from the bottom up puts you to the top of the hole. Hope this helps...

A:  Hello VK - Thank you for reaching out about your dryer. If the dryer is getting unusually hot, this would indicate a venting problem. We recommend checking the ducting and outside vent for obstructions. Keep in touch! - JB

A:  Don't forget this is a single pane of glass not double so your gonna feel a lot of the heat thats drying your cloths. If the window wasn't there or your old dryer didn't have a window remember there was two layers of metal between you and the heat so naturally it won't get as hot to the touch. I wouldn't worry about it the unit does have overheat shutdown which I'm sure would protect against any mishap.

A:  Hi rylee, thanks for reaching out! We're finding that this unit does not have a pedestal available. We apologize about that. We hope that this was helpful though. Stay safe.

        by|Jul 8, 2020

A:  No this was made to match your top loader washer. If you want the pedestal make sure you buy a dryer that is considered a front-loader. I know this dryer loads though the front but it's not meant to match up with a front-load washer.

A:  Hello GM, thank you for your question! This dryer as produced by manufacturer is to be used only with a natural gas supply. A manufacturer supplied conversion kit is required to convert this dryer for propane gas supply. Use propane gas conversion kit WE25X217. Conversion must be made by properly trained and qualified personnel in accordance with local codes and ordinances. For more infromation about this, we recommend you check out page 6 of the installation instructions, linked here: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/a0/a08fa692-9811-4c23-98b2-ed2b7564a52c.pdf We hope this helps! Q:Can this dryer be pushed up to the wall, or does it need to be pulled forward a bit? In our space it could have airflow from the sides, but will only fit well if it can be pushed all the way back against the wall.

A:  Hello Sunny. Thanks for the question about the dryer. The dryer needs to be pulled forward one inch from any combustible surface along the back. You typically leave one inch of air clearance at the rear of the dryer. We wish you all the best, Richard

A:  You must accommodate the vent hose coming out the back.

                      by|May 17, 2021

A:  You can within about 2 inches. That's about the least amount of space necessary. But the vent has to be straight shot to the outside which is what I ended up doing. I tried several options with elbows but just didn't work until I bought just a short piece of vent to connect to the outside vent.
