Q:If GE Adv Sil Kitchen & Bath is better against mold and mildew, why are they both 10 mold free? Why isn't Kitchen & Bath rated longer?
Also, is there actually a difference between Window & Door "Rain ready" versus the Kitchen and Bath "Water Ready?"

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for the question. First there is no difference between the term “rain ready” and “water ready”. One term implies using the product in exterior settings where rain occurs and the other implies interior use where water splashing from sinks, shower, or baths may occur. Second, there isn't a significant difference between the two GE Advanced Silicone 2 products, so the warranty is the same. However, the Window and Door version is available in 6 colors whereas the Kitchen and Bath version is limited to 3 colors.

A: Thank you for the question. We would not recommend using GE Advanced Silicone 2 Window & Door Caulk - clear in joints or gaps wider than 5/8”. The use of backer rod is required for gaps larger than 1/2” x 1/2”. It is important to know what may have been used prior, for compatibility reasons, and that surfaces are clean, dry, and free of any foreign contaminants that will interfere with a good seal.

A: Short answer is yes. Long answer is it would not be optimal. This is great stuff but with flat, ground level surfaces moisture will sit on it for extended periods definitely shortening it's effective life. Once it fails it will prove to be tricky to remove so keep that in mind if you proceed to use it.

Q:Can I use this to caulk cracks in my concrete bird bath
by|Aug 4, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Thank you for the question. It may be possible to use GE Advanced Silicone 2 Window & Door Sealant, depending on the size of the cracks in your concrete, keeping in mind this product is not tested for animal, bird, or fish safety and should not be considered in situations where contact with potable water is concerned. If you choose to use this product, then washing the area thoroughly as a precaution for safety reasons should be done after the sealant is fully cured. There are no guarantees for these types of applications.
