Q:What # screws are provided and are they flat heads? I'm installing 2 of these over tile and an unknown backer, so will likely need to also purchase longer screws. Thanks

    Answer This Question

A:  Try to find the studs in the wall and install the screws in the studs. This will support the bar. I don't recommend changing screws they have a certain tension strength.

Q:Need safety bars for both sides of bathtub

                    Answer This Question

A:  These bars mount on walls (tiled or not). Typical tub has two short walls and one long wall. I've mounted these in showers and tubs, even outdoors on porch stairways. Think through how they will be used. Consider products of different lengths. Orientation matters--horizontal or vertical, even diagonal is possible. Local code may specify height above floor, but most important is safety/comfort of user. How will they enter and leave the tub area? Will they be transferring while standing or pulling selves up from tub? Be sure to avoid water lines or electrical cables behind wall.

Q:My shower has ceramic tiles on the walls. I am looking for a grab / safety bar for my shower that does not rely on suction cups and which is permanently attached to the wall and which would offer maximum support. Does this item fit my requirements?

A:  I think this will well work for you. Very sturdy. Ours is attached with bolts through the back wall of a molded acrylic shower and into the wall studs. After about a year of steady use it remains secure. Also, it has not corroded or discolored at all and looks exactly the same as when it was installed.

A:  These are very good. I have had them in my shower for several years. Caulk with water resistant caulking before installing rings. Then caulk around the rings for a water tight seal.

A:  You really should ask the manufacturer this question. Google aker by maax contact. Personally, I would not want to rely on a grab bar that wasn't fastened to studs or shower wall backer board.
