Q:Do I need 2 of these for my washing machine, one for the hot and one for the cold water pipes?

        Answer This Question

A:  You don’t “need” any, but you would be wise to use two, one on each water line.  When the washer’s valves turn off, they do so very suddenly.  This leads to a pressure surge.  These water hammer arresters reduce the magnitude of these pressure surges, which reduces the stress on your pipes.  I regard these arresters as cheap insurance.  They may also reduce the noise when the washer’s valves close.

A:  It would depend on which line the water hammer is on.  If you cannot determine which has the hammer, then I would suggest you put one on each line as a safety measure.

A:  yes, 1 for hot and 1 for cold.  You will not regret purchasing these.  I wish I would have bought them years ago when the washer was installed, would have saved a lot of headaches from the banging pipes.
