Answer This Question

A:  Hello Art, Our recommendation would be to order this door from the Home Depot Special Order desk, you can get the exact same door in the exact dimensions that you need, and the door will be guaranteed to fit without excessive overlap (which would significantly reduce the opening size available to you).

A:  yes,you get more over lap(that is good)the rail is very hard steel, may need cutting wheel.

Q:Is the handle only installed outside or inside the shower door? Or both inside and outside?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello, on the Luna bypassing doors there is a knob and towel bar system rather than a traditional handle. That being said, the knob sits on both the inside and outside of the glass and the towel bar sits on the outside with small knob-like ends that show on the inside for ease in opening the outermost panel.

Q:Two questions. Can these shower doors be installed with a shower curb? The picture doesn't have a curb so just want to make sure. Also what keeps the water from coming thru the bottom? I don't see any kind of seal or anything under the shower doors to keep water from coming out?

          Answer This Question

A:  Hello, yes, this door can be installed on a curb that is at least 3". That unit comes standard with our polycarbonate "soft sill," this is a clear, flexible strip of clear vinyl that will attach to the bottom of each panel and help to prevent water leakage from the unit. A second piece of polycarbonate vinyl will also help block the gap between the two panels to reduce water leakage that way as well. Q:Looks great, but my only concern is that it appears the the edge sections that the door slides into is made of some form of plastic. Clear plastic has a tendency to turn yellow when it ages. Will this plastic discolor over time (5 - 10 years)

              Answer This Question

A:  Hello Bob, You are correct, these parts do eventually discolor as the vinyl breaks down. We mitigate this as much as we can by using materials with UV and antimicrobial additives to resist against degradation. As to how long they last, the speed and severity of the discoloration is dependent on many factors including water quality, cleaners, exposure to sunlight, humidity levels, soaps and shampoos, etc. If you do experience discoloration, please contact Holcam with you order information and we can send a replacement.

A:  I did not use that plastic edges. I liked the look without them and I did not need them to keep water inside

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hello, At Holcam, we consider anything below 65 1/2 inches tall to be suitable for a tub enclosure, however, the answer this question will depend on the height of your ceiling and personal preference as to how high you would like your enclosure to be. If you are interested in a more traditional tub-height door, we recommend the LBTE model, available here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Holcam-Luna-58-in-60-in-W-x-60-1-2-in-H-Frameless-Bypassing-Sliding-Tub-Door-in-Matte-Black-LBTE-MBL-CLR-6060-HS/312256735. If you would guidance in measuring your tub enclosure space, please take advantage of the free Holcam How to Measure sheet, available here: https://holcam.com/how-to-measure/ (Select the In-Line How to Measure sheet). If you have further questions or would like assistance in determining what enclosure is best for your bathroom, please give us a call at 719-948-9507.

Q:Will this door work with a 4" curb? Does it go on the outside or sit on the center of the curb?

                      Answer This Question

A:  Hello, A 4” curb will be fine. The center guide is the widest point on the curb. It is 3” wide, and is listed as the minimum threshold width (although there are solutions if your curb is not this wide). You can decide whether the centerline of your unit will run in the center of your curb or towards the outside. To ensure that the center guide will not stick out in front of the curb, the centerline of your unit should be located at least 1 ½” from the outer edge of the curb.

Q:Right at 58 inch , should I order this unit or the 58.06- any advantage to the slightly larger door in terms of overlap?

                        Answer This Question

A:  Hello, The size ranges indicate the sizes of the glass panels. The 58 1/16 to 60 inch unit will have panels that are almost 31 inches wide. The 56 to 58 inch unit will have panels that are almost 30 inches in width. Essentially this means that the overlap for the wider panels will be greater than it would be for the other, and that the size of the opening would be slightly smaller if you use the wider glass in the 58 inch width. Additionally, The header bars will fit more snugly if the larger door is ordered. For instance, the 58-60 unit, has a header bar that is cut to fit perfectly for a 58” opening, a 56-58” unit has a header bar cut for a 56” opening. If you have additional questions, please feel free to give us a call at 719-948-9507.

A:  You should be okay with the 58" kit. The roller bar hangers are wide, so you'll have some leeway. The glass edge seals will also fill any gap you may have between the edge of the glass and the shower wall. That being said, a call to the manufacturer is always wise.
