A:  It is a 1x4 piece of wood that mounts into the ceiling and is stained the same color as the wood around the lamps. One metal tube has the wires that come down from the ceiling to the lamps. If you are talking about the top of the light, it is all open. The stain wood goes around all four size but it is open on the top which allows the light to shine upwards.

A:  The top of the light fixture/ wooden box is open on top and bottom. I've included a picture looking up into the fixture from below. We are so happy with this light fixture and receive a lot of compliments on it.

A:  I've had this light for 14 months and I've never changed the bulbs. I didn't have any issues with the bulbs seating properly in the sockets though.

A:  I had the same issue, I returned it. They try to replaced it but I didn’t want it to deal with it again. Big disappointment.

A:  I had the issue with 3 of the sockets. They appeared to be straight but upon trying to screw in the bulb they were not as I could not get the bulb to screw in properly, so I took the glass off around the bulb. Then I let the bulb just sit and rotated it counter clockwise then clockwise working the bulb around until it caught in the groves properly. Then i noticed they appeared to be seated crooked to the fixture. I gently straightened the the socket with the bulb in it and screwed the bulb all the way in. I too thought it might shatter in my hand but got them in to the socket and they worked properly.

A:  I couldn't find the replacement bulb, and at home depot, folks were saying that it was disconnected, then I persisted, and got a lighting expert who sold me a set of new bulbs (all 7), they all fit, and they match, and everything is great. Wish I didn't have to go thru the hassle, but you must not be using the correct bulb size.

A:  Yes, I had this problem too, I had to try a couple different kinds of bulbs to get them all working....

A:  We have had our light installed for over a year and have no issues with the bulbs. Sounds like maybe more of a manufacturing defect as I don’t recall any installation issues with the bulbs. Good luck-

A:  Yes it can. We had no issue mounting it on our kitchen ceiling which is sloped.

A:  No, not the same one unless you want to buy the whole thing again. Measure the base of the globe and you can find one on-line at any light fixture store. It is the same coated but a little different at the bottom. Each globe has a different size so be careful. Also, the shipping was the same price as the globe but only $20 total. I broke the middle one which was the largest size. Just measure the base and you should fine one that looks the good but not the same.

A:  I would say that it is a medium tinted stain. But it might be best to take your bracket piece into your nearest Home Depot and match it to the stain selection available.
