Q:Is this model stainless steel?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question, Katie. This model and all Badger models with 1/2 and 1/3 horsepower have galvanized steel grinding components. If you prefer a garbage disposal with stainless steel grinding components, you should consider a model with 3/4 to 1 horsepower. Here's the specification for this model: https://insinkerator.emerson.com/documents/badger-5-specifications-en-us-10083210.pdf

Q:I have an Insinkerator with markings 9MB5CM above a QR code and B77650 below the QR. I think a 1/2 hp Badger 5 was installed in 2015 or 2016. Can I borrow what I need from the old unit to install this new 3/4 hp unit?

A: Hi, thank you for the question. Some parts are similar and can be reused on another Badger, like the mounting assembly. If you're going to reuse other parts, please check the installation guide here for your reference: https://insinkerator.emerson.com/documents/badger-5xp-installation-care-use-manual-english-en-us-10266946.pdf, or you can contact our customer service team via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask if you need further assistance.

A: Good question, Beth! The air switch is indeed compatible with this garbage disposal. It is recommended to use the InSinkErator air switch, specifically model no. STS-OOSN for the satin nickel button or STS-OO for the chrome and white button.

Q:If I have a badger 1 can I replace it with a badger 100 series with out changing sink bracket will it fit my badger 1 bracket
by|Aug 16, 2024

Answer This Question
A: Hi Jesse, Thank you for your question. The Badger 100 is compatible with your garbage disposal. It has the same dimensions and connections under the sink. If your sink bracket, or mounting assembly, is still in good condition, you can continue using it with your new garbage disposal.

Q:How can I determine if I need a 1/3 or 1/2 hp unit?
by|Aug 15, 2024

Answer This Question
A: Good question, James! Both the 1/3 HP and the 1/2 HP Badger motors spin at the same rate (1725 rpm) and can grind the same items in the same amount of time. More power only means that it can do the same work with less effort.

Q:What's in the Install Kit? I'm replacing my garbage disposal, so not sure if I needed the install kit too.
by|Aug 14, 2024

Answer This Question
A: Hi Kate, We appreciate your inquiry. The installation kit is a Putty Free Sink Seal. It is a rubber seal that makes installing a garbage disposal mess-free, with no clean-up or no plumber's putty required, but creates a water-tight seal to your flange. If you will use the old sink flange installed in your sink from your old garbage disposal, you do not need the installation kit.

Q:Can I replace a badger1 1/3 hp with this badger 5 1/2 hp unit will all the plumbing line up
by|Aug 12, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hi, thanks for the question. If you're using a 90-degree elbow pipe, the tailpipe provided with any new Badger disposer should line up with your current plumbing configuration without modification. If you are using straight pipe with a flared edge, then you will need straight pipe with a flared edge that is 5/8 inch longer. The Flexible Discharge Tube (model: FDT-00) can also be used to simplify the installation from the older threaded Badger models to the newer Badger models.

Q:I am replacing a Badger 5 with another Badger 5. Can we just switch out the actual unit without changing the "sink" parts, or do we have to replace everything? The current one will not work, it hums but doesn't turn. Have tried the wrench.

Answer This Question
A: Hello Marie, Thank you for getting in touch with us. You can certainly reuse the mounting assembly in your sink if it's still in good condition. You can use it with your new garbage disposal. The humming sound indicates that your disposal is jammed. Here's a troubleshooting guide that can help you fix the issue: https://support.insinkerator.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/515.
