Q:I’m making an entertainment center from wood, I’m planning to use kilz to primer. What should I use as a filler to cover the nails and gaps? Also after I paint can I use a lacquer to seal? Thanks!

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Anibal, thank you for your question. As it turns out, we do not recommend top coating our Kilz paint with lacquer since it typically contains solvents that can cause latex paint to crack or bubble. I'd also like to mention that we are only familiar with our products and do not currently have a wood filler available. I recommend reaching out to your local hardware or home improvement store for more information about what will work best for your project. Have a great day! -Lina

A:  Hi Lynne, thank you for your question. Although the Kilz Premium Primer can be applied to clean and dry ceilings and top coated with a recommended paint, it's not designed to be applied to surfaces that get hot to touch or exceed 140F, as this can cause performance issues with the coating. Have a great day! - Randy
