Q:Can this check continuity of a newly installed wire in a new circuit not yet turned on? I ran wire ( several new circuits) in my garage. I want to test that there is no damaged, broken or bad wires before mudding the drywall.

A: Yes, this meter will check the continuity of any circuits that are not energized...Test each wire (circuit) before you connect the wires to the supply breaker and the neutral bar, so you only are testing the continuity of the particular circuit...If you ran NM-B (Romex) for your branch circuit wiring, wire the black and white wires together at the end of the run, then use this meter red probe on the black wire and black probe on the white wire at the panel, if you hear a beep or see the display reads 00.0 the circuit is good...

A: The ET250 measures continuity from 0 - 270kOhms on a closed circuit.
When testing continuity, remove power from circuit. Test for continuity by applying test leads to the system being tested. The tester automatically enters continuity testing mode. If resistance < 270kΩ is detected, an audible signal will sound and the continuity icon will show in the display indicating continuity. If the circuit is open, "000 " will show in the display.
