A:  The dishwasher was installed in a 24 inch wide by 34" tall opening in the cabinetry.Whatever air gap is required is calculated within those dimensions. This dishwasher is the quietest I have ever owned due partially to the soundproofing on its perimeter - all of which fit easily within the above dimensions.

A:  There are different phases to the cycle during which the dishwasher is vacated from any residual water, the pump running to empty at the end of the cycle: those are the only noisier sections of the run. During the wash cycle, the machine is the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned. I have never measured it but would have no problem believing 24 db during the wash cycle which is the majority of the run time.

A:  It states in the product overview, that this dishwasher operates at 46 dba. So the 24 dba rating is in fact false advertising to sell a product. Or it is the manufacturer stating that if you install this in a fully insulated cabinet, it will be more quiet.
