A: Yes it can be unlocked from either side

A: The LOKKLATCH D&D Security Dual Access Latch does not have the ability to be kept in the locked position on the outside while unlocked on the inside. The lock cylinders on this model work together meaning if one side is locked, the other side will be locked as well. Vice versa for unlocking.

Answer This Question
A: There are screws on both side to the gate

A: There are four screws used to secure each side of the LOKKLATCH D&D Security Dual Access Latch. Only two of those four are exposed from the front of each of the mounted components. The other two screws of each side are mounted on the inside (between the post and the gate). These screws cannot be removed without access to the interior section.

Q:I have the other version (#50072) of this lock, but prefer this one because it can be unlocked from either side, not just the side that it was locked from. Would this be a direct fit replacement or would I have to drill new holes and set up?

A: I do not have the other lock. The customer service number on the website works well. I used it installing this one

A: The D&D Security Dual Access Latch would need a new center hole drilled through the post, as well as screw holes for mounting in new locations. It has a larger footprint so it may cover up most of the existing screw holes from part 50072.

Q:What is the maximum post thickness that this lock will work with? I have a 6" x 6" post with 1" fencing boards over a 2" x 4" rail. At the gate the total depth is 8.5" Is the push rod long enough for this situation?

A: Hi Joe, I installed two of these but not positive on the length of the push rod. As I recall, you'll need another 1/2" or so to connect to the lock mechanism. I vaguely recall the rod being about 8" but would suggest reaching out to the manufacturer. While I think this locking latch is AWESOME and easy to install, I doubt that you'll have enough clearance with the supplied parts (rod and conduit). However, I don't think it would be too difficult to craft your own to the desired length with a some sort of rod (dowel or plastic rod) and use PVC conduit. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

A: This is difficult to answer without more information. This could be installation error. There have not been any other reports of this issue.

A: I have had this lock for close to 2 years and have not had a issue with the lock. Maybe the lock is defective and you should take it back and get a new one.

A: The short answer is that the screws do not come out if the lock is installed properly. I have installed several of these gate locks with some having to be modified to fit unique gating configurations. I never had screws come out once installed. My advice is to carefully read all installation instructions and reinstall the lock. You may have to plug existing screw holes if they are too large to adequately secure screws into your gate.

A: My lock set is on a 5" square post. I went to the Home Depot site and found a response regarding an installation on a 1" post that required a lot of work and modifications. It was suggested that the post be at least 1.5" deep and 1.25" wide. Hope this helps.
