A: Mr. Pokieisalive: The ice tray holds a little over 2 lbs of ice which takes a little more than a quart of water to make. Since the ice is "wet" in the basket, when you put it in the freezer it sticks together. A T Burke
A: You have to transfer the ice to the refrigerator/freezer for storage. I store mine in freezer zip lock bags.
A: No, you need to bag the ice immediately and put it in the freezer.
A: No you have to transfer it to the freezer. Otherwise the ice melts and recycles through the machine
A: Yes it will store it but at some point you do have to transfer it so your freezer the container inside the unit is a little smaller than I wanted but the quality of ice is better you do need to use purified water in it Good Luck
A: Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn it on. It will make thicker ice.
A: Sorry to hear that, Cheryl. I've had my Luma for over a year and have never had any problem with it at all. Maybe you should return yours for an exchange for another one. It could be that your machine was damaged during shipping. I think you will be glad to give another one (exchange) a try. I love mine and use it a couple of time per week.
A: Did you clean the reservoir with hot water try that Good Luck
A: Has the machine been off? If so try adding water to the ice bin itself, once the sensor detects enough water is should start pumping again. At least that is what works for me.
A: Never had that problem. Could be bad unit. I'd call the technical support number!
A: Maybe leave it off for 3 minutes then turn it back on and see if that resets it
A: Mr. John… Re: Luma Comfort 28 lb. Portable Freestanding Clear Ice Maker in Stainless Steel There are several reasons the ice could not be dropping. Among them are: The grid goes through a brief heat cycle to cause the frozen bond between the metal and ice to moisten so the ice is released. If that is not working or has become insufficient the ice will not drop. There is a build-up of crud that is enough to keep the ice from releasing. Wipe out the individual squares with a dry paper towel. The front of the machine has become elevated so the ice cannot come forward. Or, perhaps the grid was tilted back during the cleaning process. I’ve had several small ice machines. This make and model is the only one that has lasted more than six months and has worked more than two years. I use distilled water but that is advised against in the instructions. I have no lime build up and my ice tastes great. The manual shows support at 1-866-737-6390, or support@lumacomfort.com on the net. A T Burke
A: I would try rinsing the inside with hot water then run purified water only thru it Good Luck
A: Lemon juice and wiping all sections. Water reservoir and ice section.
A: I had he same problem after a cleaning attempt, I called the company and they sent me anew one.
A: CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. NEXT TIME, USE FILTERED WATER AND TELL THE SUER TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT. THE MANUFACTUERES ARE GREAT PEOPLE AND THEY MAY BE VERY HELPFUL ALSO CHECK GOOGLE AND YOU TUBE.
A: Mine has a drain plug (white) on rear just unscrew and drain into pan
A: Ms. Teresa, There is a port on the bottom/back. I only use distilled water and change water/clean water tray monthly. I've had 5 small countertop ice makers in the last five years. No other brand lasted a year. This one is still working well at the two year mark. ATB
A: Yes, it is easy to drain the tank. The drain is on the back of the unit. All you do is screw the top off. Be sure to turn the unit around where the drain will be at the edge of the table you use it on. Just drain the water into a container until the water is all drained out. Clean the ice maker and fill it with fresh water. ALL OF THIS INFORMATION IS IN THE BOOK WITH DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO DRAIN AND CLEAN THE ICEMAKER.
A: A plug in the back. Easy to do over drain, sink or bucket!
A: There is a small drain on the back of the unit that unscrews and has a tiny rubber plug inside. I use this to drain in and paper towels to dry the rest.
A: Make sure there's water in the machine then power it off, wait a few minutes, then power it back on.
A: Try turning it off and in again or unplug and push the on button.
A: Ms. Sarita Re: Luna tabletop ice maker On a properly working unit, the blinking green light shows that the icemaker is in the non-ice making mode. Hold down the button for a second or so and it should go to a steady state. Failure to obtain a steady green light probably means the unit is non operable. Before going to the trouble of returning the unit, unplug the unit, wait for 20 seconds and plug the unit back in to recycle the electronics. Then retry holding down the button for a second and see if you can get the unit started. ATM
A: Try turning it off for 3 minutes Good Luck
A: The flashing only means it is plugged in. Push the button for 3 sec to start it.
A: No, that is not a good idea. I believe they say that isn't a good idea in the material they send to you when you get the machine.
A: Sure, for maybe 1 or 2 days until it get gummed up.
A: I would not.
A: Only regular drinking water should be used in this type of ice maker. Flavorings contain sugars, dyes etc. that could harm the pump or permanently stain and or clog the inner working of the machine. Flavored ICE should be done in old school plastic, or silicone ice trays you place in the freezer
A: Never tried it but I am sure it wouldn’t be good for the pump etc it could cause build up of gunk
A: There is ice in the morning when the unit is left on overnight, although the cubes have melted a little. 90% of the time I only use the unit on a as needed basis or to fill the ice tray in my freezer. This ice maker has lasted longer than my previous one so I am happy with it. My view is that this is an ice maker not an ice freezer.
A: No but when the ice melts it makes new. You can transfer the made ice into a cooler or ice bucket
A: After 12 hours it will be melted.
A: Mr. or Ms. Lin... RE: Luna 28lb table-top ice maker The ice storage area is not directly refrigerated. It is an insulated bin like a picnic cooler. When actually in the process of making ice, refrigerated air does flow downward from the ice maker/tray which slows down the melting of the stored ice but does not keep it frozen. When the machine is not currently making ice, the stored ice will melt faster but only at about the same rate as it would in a premium insulated cooler. The water from the melted ice is returned to the water circulating pool below the ice bin and will be used to make ice again. As the ice melts, the bin level lowers which at some point triggers the ice making process. This keeps the storage bin relatively full. ATB
A: Yes
A: 1-gallon. About 6 sheets. Makes ice within 20 minutes.
A: I filled the water to the water line - the ice bucket is full and I have not put more water in
A: It holds about 2L of water and makes about 10 sheets of ice.
A: It makes continues ice so it doesn't make more ice until you use the ice in it so this makes the water last longer.
A: Almost a gallon.
A: You have to fill a container with water and pour it into an opening on the back top of the ice maker. It's not a lot of trouble and so worth the small inconvenience. I love my ice maker and use it about every 3 days. I use lots of ice I guess.
A: There is a removable lid on top to a reservoir that hold about 1/2 gallon of water. You can use tap water, but I use gallon jugs of drinking water since our tap water is the reason I wanted this ice maker. I usually make a gallon of ice on the weekend and it last about a week but we don’t use a lot of ice. I clean it up and start over the next weekend. I love this machine. It works great for us.
A: It has an internal water reservoir that is refillable. It is removable which allows easy cleaning as well.
A: You just pour water in like a coffee Pot when it gets low a red light will come on. Works good we like it.
A: This ice maker has an internal, refillable water reservoir.
A: Ms. Deb... Re: Luma Comfort 28 lb. Portable Freestanding Clear Ice Maker in Stainless Steel The water reservoir is not removable on this model. You do fill a separate rear storage reservoir in the rear rather than the pump reservoir below the ice basket. Of the five table top machines I’ve had in the last five years this model has lasted the longest, has the largest reservoir and largest ice basket. When not using distilled water (I use distilled water from experience even though it is not recommended by the manufactures) one has to dump and clean the pump reservoir on a regular basis. The debris that does not freeze into ice accumulates in the pump reservoir. ATB
A: THE LUMA is 11" wide, 10 1/4" tall (in the front) and 13 1/2" tall (in the back) and 14" deep (front to back).
A: The dimensions are 14.8"D x 14.1"H x 11.3"W.
A: 11" on the front,13"back to front, 14"top to bottom at the highest point. I really like it makes almost clear ice the other ice makers only white ice. Also the drain is on the back instead on the bottom. It makes ice real quick. Do not tip the unit over when unpacking it or ever it will damage the unit. Hope this helps
A: Mr. JD... It is 14" tall, 14.75" deep and 11.5" wide. You also need several inches around it so the air can circulate freely over the condenser coils. For what it is worth, I’ve had 6 of countertop units of various makes. This one has lasted the longest and is the easiest to use/refill/store ice. ATB
