Answer This Question

A:  Hello Chad, thank you for your question. We are sorry to hear about the issue you are encountering with your Caseta Fan Speed Control. Some fans have a built-in module or limiter that can't be controlled by other manufacturer's controls. We suggest that you contact the fan manufacturer to find out if your fan can be controlled by a third-party fan control, such as this Lutron Caseta model. We hope this helps! If you have additional questions or concerns, we're happy to assist. You can reach our Customer Satisfaction team at customersatisfaction@lutron.com, or call us at 1-844-LUTRON1. We're here 24/7, so please call us any time!

Q:Does Lutron have a product for a hard-wired ceiling fan ? pull chain only, no wall switch currently? I?m looking for a relay that can be installed in the ceiling fan housing, and then be paired to a Pico Remote. Thanks.

A:  No, unfortunately, Lutron does not make a universal remote for hardwired fans that don't have a wall switch. In that case, you would need a universal remote that includes a receiver. If you want something that will integrate with a smartphone, you would need something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-Universal-Smart-Wi-Fi-4-Speed-Ceiling-Fan-White-Remote-Control-For-Use-Only-With-AC-Motor-Fans-Powered-by-Hubspace-76278/315169181 Or for a tried and true system (I have used this one in the past and it works perfectly), you would want something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hunter-Universal-3-Speed-Damp-Rated-Ceiling-Fan-Handheld-Remote-Control-White-99392/313862620 Good luck!

Q:Is there a version of this that is also dimmable? Looking for a light switch where it is dimmable, has fan control and is also smart.

          Answer This Question

A:  Hello! We appreciate your interest in Lutron Products! Unfortunately, we do not have a smart dual or ""stacked"" LED-rated dimming and fan control at this time. This is primarily due to there not being enough physical space within the backing of one dimmer to fit the necessary components required to handle LED lighting loads. If clearance permits, the Lutron solution with these types of applications would be to expand the wall box itself to allow for a multi-gang wall box to be installed in its place that can house multiple dimming controls attached to their own respective lighting loads. If you still have questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-844-LUTRON1. We're here 24/7, so you can reach out anytime, day or night."

A:  Hello! The PD-FSQN will not work on a Fan that comes with its own wireless remote. If a fan comes with a wireless remote, it means that it has a built-in transmitter that will interfere with 3rd party fan controls such as ours. The PD-FSQN will only work on ceiling fans that are pull chain operated with no other means of control. If you still have questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-844-LUTRON1. Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Jeff, thank you for your question. The Caseta Smart Fan Control is designed to control a standard 3-speed ceiling fan which ideally only uses pull-chains to adjust its speeds. A fan that has its own remote or wall control typically uses a proprietary control technology and would likely be incompatible with a third-party fan speed control. We suggest you reach out to the fan manufacturer to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan should the remote control receiver be bypassed. We hope this helps! If you have additional questions, please reach out to our Support Team at support@lutron.com or give us a call at 1-844-LUTRON1.

A:  Yes it will work. It simply replaces your wall switch. There should be no other control devices installed on the fan since the Casita will take over the job of Controller.

A:  Hello, thank you for your inquiry. The PD-FSQN Smart Fan Speed Control is only rated to control fans and will not also control the lighting in the fan. Within the Caseta product family, two different devices would be needed for this application: a PD-FSQN for the fan and a dimmer or an on/off switch for the light. Alternatively, if you were willing to forgo smart home functionality, our Maestro LED+ dimmer and fan speed control, model MACL-LFQ, may meet the needs of your application. It requires separate wires for fan and light in the wallbox and can both dim LED lighting and change fan speeds, all on one single-gang device. See the below link for more information: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Lutron-Maestro-Fan-Control-and-Light-Dimmer-for-dimmable-LEDs-Incandescent-and-Halogen-Bulbs-Single-Pole-White-MACL-LFQH-WH/303169873 We hope this helps! A:  No. This only works the fan. You need to separate the light switch wire and add another separate switch to control the lights. Easy if you have room in the current wall box. I have several of these in my house. They work great.

A:  Hello Eric, thank you for your question. The Caseta Wireless Fan Control (PD-FSQN) is only rated for AC fan motors, not DC as the model in question appears to be. Also, Lutron fan controls are designed to control a standard 3-speed ceiling fan which only uses pull-chains to adjust its speeds. A fan that has its own remote or wall control typically uses a proprietary control technology and would likely be incompatible with a third-party fan speed control such as ours. We suggest you reach out to the fan manufacturer whenever selecting a fan to use with a Lutron control to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan. A:  It all depends on if you have a neutral wire in the box. Turn off the breaker to that switch (and the adjacent switch if they are separate), open up the box (take the cover off) and see if there is a white neutral line (might be with wire nuts in the back of the box). If you have a neutral run there it will work. If there is no Neutral it won't work. Needs the neutral.

A:  If I remember correctly it does have a neutral wire, so I’m not sure if u have the white wires or not but if u do it is worth a shot. I have never had an issue with any of the casetta switches. Never once!!

A:  I believe you can make it work. It is supposed to have a “neutral” wire connection. If you do not have that it does state in the institutions you can connect the neutral wire part of the switch to the metal box the switch goes into IF you are using plastic screws.

A:  This is a ( fan only ) control, and it does require a ( neutral wire connection. So you will have to make sure that you have a neutral in your wall box, where you will be putting the fan only control.
