Q:This looks like a standard plastic gear mechanism in spite of the metal chassis, nozzle tube, and nozzles. Need confirmation since in past so many failed due to the hidden cheap internal plastic gears. And it is made now in China lending to the probability it suffers the same plastic weakness. Any confirm its metal geared?

A:  Just tried mine for the 1st time today right out of the box and the oscillation does not work. Tried various water pressure to see if it was pressure related. Nothing. Getting returned.

A:  I doubt that its metal geared as the swing adjuster is also plastic, but what I can say is this model is much better built than all plastic ones.

Q:I understand that it will OSCILLATE as far as 180 degrees (ground level to ground level). What I need to know is how WIDE the spray is. I want to place it midway along the edge of a long flower bed, and have it oscillate from straight up (90degrees) to about 60 degrees toward the back of the flowerbed. I need to that it will cover the length of the flower bed by spraying wide enough from side to side (that is, along the long axis of the sprinkler), so I don't have to water, then move it, water, then move it.

A:  This sprinkler can do the job, depending on how long your flowerbed is and what kind of water pressure you have. There are two adjustments for oscillation so you can set it to any type coverage you need. It can be set to cover from 80 degrees to 80 degrees and everything in between. I have good water pressure, when I turn it up it will cover approximately 30' from side to side give or take a little. Very handy sprinkler for big areas or small, you won`t be disappointed.

A:  It depends on water pressure. I have about 58 psi at my house and my maximum spray width is about 50 feet. This sprinkler actually has a wider spray width that any other sprinkler i have had. Probably because of brass spray nozzles.

A:  I use this sprinkler for irrigating my lawn. When it is watering in an unobstructed area with about 40lbs of well water pressure, the spray pattern extends 10-14 ft on each side of the sprinkler when all sprinkler jets are open.

A:  That sprinkler will water approximately 69 feet for the length and 58 feet wide.

              by|May 17, 2021

A:  The width of the spray pattern is governed by your available system pressure. You regulate that by how much you open the hose bib faucet.

A:  I am not really mechanically inclined but it is driven mainly by the flow of water through levers encased under the bottom. The only parts made of plastic seems to be the adjusting mechanism the handle for the water connection and another part at the end.

A:  That would depend on the size and length of the hose feeding it. It has good coverage and if you want to water a narrow strip you can adjust the setting to do that, You can also adjust the water flow for how wide it will spray, with the flow set to max and the adjustments set to max it covers a huge area. I liked mine so well I bought two more so I have one at each faucet. Between the faucet adjustment and the sprinkler settings you can do as little as a few square feet or thousands.

A:  Varies. Get a empty storage tub, use all of your hose (critical, length of hose affects volume and pressure) and put sprinkler in the tub upside down. Turn on water spicket fully and time for 1 minute then shut off. Remove sprinkler and measure water in tub using gallon milk jug or similar measuring device to determine your Gallons per Minute. I do not have 50PSI continuous pressure, but my GPM was just less than 3.

A:  You may have some scale build up from previous usage. Try soaking the unit in CLR or vinegar overnight. Then hook up to the hose and try it. May need to repeat several times depending on the buildup.

A:  Hard to say, it depends on the mineral content of your water. What I will say is the brass nozzles and included cleaning tool should allow you to keep the sprinkler nozzles clean even if your water has high iron and mineral content.

A:  It may, but the end of the pipe unscrews and in the cap is a poker to "poke' through the holes and it will also flush out the pipe. There is a screen also in the washer at the hose end. I use well water and have had to clean the washer a couple of times and poke 1 hole. I have had the sprinkler for 2 years and it's a good product.

A:  Not to my knowledge. It seems that the problem is excessive friction in the mechanism since the problem first appears at low flow rates. It gradually appears at higher and higher flows until the hydrant is fully on and it still won't oscillate.
