Q:Can the two platform rails be installed on any of the three sides or just the two extending straight out from the deck? ie If I want the first step to be off to the left side instead of straight ahead, can I install the rails on the right and far sides?

        Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your question, Tbrown. Our platforms do not come pre-drilled and the staircase is designed to be either right or left hand up (the location of the handrail as you ascend the staircase). Based on your description you should be ok but if you'd like to speak with one of our sales designers or product support team, please give us a call at (855) 821-1689 and we can make sure you're good to go.

A:  Thanks for your question, Patti. As per national building code requirements, any spiral stair exceeding 151" requires a rest platform. We offer a wide range of options to accommodate these applications by calling us at (855) 821-1689.

Q:On a 135in high stair, if the exit, platform, is at 0 degrees, what is the entrance, exit degree?

            Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your question, Richard. Each tread has 30 degrees of rotation, as per code requirements. A 12 tread stair case will have 360 degrees of rotation. You can simply add or subtract 30 degrees to find your final rotation but we recommend a EP60B14B002 for the floor to floor height referenced in your question. Please don't hesitate to call us at (855) 821-1689 if you have any other questions or need additional information.

Q:Can the center column be mounted to a wooden deck? What support needs to be provided in order to hold weight of center column on wooden deck?

              Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your question, Bobby. We have many customers who have successfully mounted our spiral stairs to their deck. Ideally you'd want to mount the stair over a joist but if that's not possible, you'll want to add blocking between the joists to distribute the load. We'd recommend contacting a local builder for further advice if necessary since they will be more knowledgeable about your local environment and be able to offer specific advice.
