A:  You need approximately 15 cubic feet of soil for a 6-by-3-foot bed if you make it 10 inches deep, or 18 cubic feet for a 12-inch depth.

A:  7-8 2cu ft bags of garden soil

A:  I purchased the 3x3 which roughly used 6 cu. ft of soil. If you purchase the 6x3 - I believe the depth is the same it will take roughly 11 cu. ft. to fill. Gardners.com calculator is a great tool to get your accurate numbers. https://www.gardeners.com/how-to/soil-calculator/7558.html I think everyone runs into the fact that it takes a lot of soil and eventually a lot of money to fill these. What I usually do to keep it cost-efficient is I use a combination of soils. I mix the following (or something similar) https://www.homedepot.com/p/Kellogg-Garden-Organics-2-cu-ft-All-Natural-Raised-Bed-and-Potting-Mix-Premium-Outdoor-Container-Mix-6490/205617903 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Earthgro-1-cu-ft-Cow-Manure-and-Organic-Compost-71751180/303121162 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Lambert-1-cu-ft-Compressed-Peat-Moss-398650/202527657 Remember these are options and some individuals may disagree with the selection, it works well for me. Also, keep your eyes open in the garden center sometimes they have bags of garden soil at half price because they have a hole, and they patched them up. Don't forget to save your eggshells, coffee grinds, vegetable peels, and/or any other organic vegetable scraps you have at home to incorporate to the bed. I hope that helps. Happy Gardening! :)

A:  As ling as you have a trellis there is plenty of room

                by|May 18, 2020

A:  I would say yes. I purchased the 3x3 - 1 to plant spinach and lettuce, the other to plant some vining veggies which I made cages and trellises for from feedlot panels. I currently have 3x8 beds which I am planning on revamping with a square foot gardening plan. He's a great resource for planning square foot raised beds. https://www.gardeners.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-Gardeners-Site/default/KGP-Design If you want to make your own tomato cages. https://www.growingagreenerworld.com/?s=tomato+cages gardeners.com under the advice drop-down, planning tools, kitchen garden. Really easy to use and you can really customize your raised bed. Happy Gardening!
